Are Prince William and Prince Harry really Snoop Dogg's 'boys', as the rapper claims? When the rapper, 50, told UK newspaper The Mirror recently that the royal brothers were personal fans, and was extraordinarily candid in opening up about their friendship, releasing fascinating and almost unbelievable details, many readers were left feeling both surprised and delighted. It was quite the revelation! Who knew the princes had such excellent musical taste? William and Harry know many people in the entertainment industry, and are never short on friends who would like to perform at royal parties, so perhaps it isn't completely surprising that they are on more than just first-name terms with the rapper-songwriter. The brothers have hung out with everybody in the showbiz industry it seems, from James Corden to Oprah Winfrey. So what's the truth behind Snoop Dogg's claim that he's buddies with the princes?
6 Things Started Way Back in 2010 Between Snoop And The Princes
According to Vanity Fair, the royal brothers' acquaintance with Snoop Dogg began back in 2010, when Harry contacted the rapper to ask if he would perform at brother William's bachelor party - just before his marriage. Snoop couldn't make the event, but a friendship began between them and numbers were exchanged.
Shortly afterwards, he made a homage to his royal friends in the music video for his track 'Wet', which featured lookalikes of the royals. He said the song would be perfect for a 'stag do' in a tweet about the track. William and Harry evidently appreciated the jokey tribute, which cemented their friendship.
5 Snoop Dogg Knew The Brothers Were Fans
Snoop Dogg has also said that he reached out to William and Harry after hearing that they were fans, and said that he is supportive of the pair in a big-brother type way - looking out for them and calmly keeping an eye on happenings.
“Harry and William are my boys,” Snoop Dogg told the Mirror this week. “As soon as I knew they were fans I reached out to them, and we’ve been cool ever since. I look out for them and they can reach out to me whenever they want they know that. I look out for them, and they can reach out to me whenever they want.”
4 And Says His Music 'Raised Them'
The rapper says that the brothers were not only familiar with his music, but were in fact huge fans, and had been listening to his music since their youth. He claims his music had a formative effect on the youngsters - and said it helped them find their sometimes rebellious spirit.
In an interview with the Guardian, he said “I wanna shoot a shout-out to my homeboys in London: the princes, Harry and William" and went on to say that they had been fans since they were kids, "You know I raised them on this music of mine. They were groomed on me,” he said. “I’m a part of their revolt. They were at that age when my music spoke to them.”
3 The Rapper Has Praised Prince Harry For His Decisions
Snoop Dogg's support for the royal brothers extends to Harry's recent personal decisions.
“ââI said Prince Harry had big balls when he didn’t invite Trump to his wedding,” Snoop said, “And now, for real, I say he’s got an even bigger set of balls. Him and Meghan are living their lives like they want and that can’t be an easy thing with the whole world judging them. They got to live life their way —they get a lot of respect from me for that.”
2 He Has Even Invited Harry and Meghan Over For Thanksgiving
According to the rapper, he has also extended an invitation to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to spend Thanksgiving at his California home, just a stone's throw from Harry and Meghan's Montecito mansion.
“If they want to come over for Thanksgiving dinner they are in for something special. They can come over to Snoop’s crib,” he said.
Whether Harry and Meghan will take up the offer is unknown, but it is very tempting!
