Madison LeCroy has stirred up enough drama that her name has trickled outside of the confines of Bravo and into ARod's relationship. Now, fans wonder how her bombshell scandals will affect the ongoing seasons of Southern Charm.
After Bravo posted a YouTube segment of her most dramatic moments, viewers chimed in about how she's changed the dynamic of the once-beloved show.
Are We Team Madison?
Some fans commented "I’ve always loved Madison. Austin and all the boys gaslit and undermined her when she realized there is cheating. She tells it like it is, and don’t get mad when the truth comes out."
It's true that Craig, Austen, and Shep created an impenetrable boys' club that often included one-sided rules. However, the dynamic of the original Southern Charm cast was based on friendship. Now, all that's left is relationship arguments and bland storylines.
Another fan hilariously added "I forgot this show still exists…" Is LeCroy completely to blame for the fizzling of the old money crowd that goes to polo matches for fun?
Some agreed that she tried "too hard" to deliver shocking one-liners and therefore more TV time. It's a common mistake for newcomers who have watched Bravo shows before, AKA Jen Shah from RHOSLC.
When we look back on the clips of Madison arguing with Austen, one thing's for sure. They should stay three states apart, let alone six feet during the pandemic. They get more joy in their eyes when they think they're winning an argument than when they're spending time together.
Bully Allegations
A viewer pointed out that she can definitely "make Shep squirm," which is useful at times when no one else will put him in his elitist place. However, her mean girl behavior was over the top last season.
As Bravo has seen with past Real Housewives flops, fans want a balance between drama and genuine connections. If the entire season is focused on targeting a singular cast member, the tone quickly changes into an icky bullying situation.
For example, Dani Baird was visibly appalled by Madison's hateful words towards her last season. If the smallest of miscommunicated issues involved Madison, she lashed out with namecalling and the idea that the loudest bark wins.
Last season's episodes regularly hit beneath a million viewers, hinting at a serious need for change.
Even worse, Cameron's leaving despite her being one of the only likable people left on the cast. Does Madison need someone in her corner to join Season 8, or perhaps someone who can stand up to her? We'll have to wait and see.
