Southern Charm star Taylor Ann Green had a tough Season 9. Fans learned that she had kissed Austen Kroll after her break-up with his good friend, Shep Rose. It ultimately ended her friendship with Olivia Flowers, who had previously dated Austen. In fact, Taylor and Austen trying to keep their kiss a secret only damaged their relationships with their cast mates.

However, Taylor was also dealing with something much more serious. After filming wrapped for Season 9, fans learned that Taylor's older brother had died. In June 2023, Taylor's brother, Richard Worthington “Worth” Green, passed away. He was 36 years old.

In Season 10, Episode 5, as Taylor celebrates her 30th birthday, she reflects on her brother's death. It's made fans want to learn more about what exactly happened to Worth.

After Season 9 finished filming, Taylor Ann Green dealt with the sudden loss of her older brother, Worth Green. The two siblings appeared to be very close, as an episode that season saw Taylor FaceTiming her brother for advice after she was accused of sleeping with Olivia's ex, Austen.

According to his obituary, Worth died on June 8, 2023, at the age of 36. His death was first confirmed by Taylor and Worth's sister, Catie King. In an Instagram post, she shared, "You are the best big brother I could have ever asked for. This family will never be the same. I love you to the moon and back."

Just a few days later, Taylor and her family shared a statement with People that read:

"Worth left this world on top of the world - he had a beautiful passion for life and cared deeply for those around him. We are going to miss his jovial personality and all of the love and laughter that he brought his family, girlfriend and countless friends. Heartbroken is an understatement, but we are finding so much peace knowing he is in the arms of our Heavenly Father. We kindly ask for privacy at this time."

Taylor shared her own Instagram post on June 19. The reality TV star shared photos of her, her sister, and Worth posing together, another one that showed her and Worth as children, and a video of him playing golf.

"Not enough words can encapsulate who Worth was and the impact he left behind. June 8th, 2023 The Lord called you home. We are going to miss your goofiness, your bear hugs, and that infectious laugh. I will always admire the steadfast love you had for your family, friends (too many to count), your girlfriend and Jesus Christ. You truly went out on top of your game and we so look forward to seeing you again one day♥️" Taylor wrote.

The Green family have not yet stated how Worth had died. However, The U.S. Sun allegedly obtained his autopsy, which revealed that he had reportedly died of a drug overdose while at his home in Raleigh, North Carolina.

In Season 10, Episode 5, Taylor enjoys lunch with her mom, Leslie, to celebrate her 30th birthday. As they spoke about her milestone birthday, they also touched upon Worth's tragic passing.

"For you to go through all this stuff in your 20s is really unfathomable," Leslie tells her daughter, to which Taylor replies, "Mama, I can't."

In a confessional, Taylor shares more about how her life has changed since Worth's death. "Everything that I've been through has just been, kind of like, crazy. I have my ups and my downs. It's been about nine months since my brother's passing, and I think hitting this big milestone without a very key component in my life is going to be very tough."

Taylor was born on October 14, 1994, and was raised in Asheville, North Carolina.

Speaking to her mom, Taylor shares that she was never a fan of big birthday celebrations. However, her brother made sure to make them special. "You know, I've never been a big celebrator. I was so pissed off at Worth when he did the big surprise party," Taylor tells her.

"And that was your 27th! It wasn't even a big [one]. If he was here, he'd be so excited about it. Baby girl, turning 30. You know, it would be such a big deal. And in honor of him, you need to have a special day." Leslie says.

Taylor, who wanted to celebrate her birthday with her Charleston friends, decides to cancel the party.

During that same scene, Taylor also shares how her boyfriend, Gaston Rojas, was a huge support system when Worth died. "Gaston never got the chance to meet my brother, and he stepped in at a very scary moment. And instead of running away, he said, 'Can I help you pick up the pieces?'" She states in a confessional.

Taylor's brother's death came five months after the tragic passing of Southern Charm alum Olivia Flowers' brother's death. According to People, Olivia's brother, Conner, died of an accidental drug overdose on January 30, 2023. He was 32 years old. The news of his death was also shown in an episode of Season 9, in which Olivia reflects on his passing and her Charleston friends rally around her to comfort her.

It was a difficult time for both women as they also navigated the fallout of their friendship following Taylor's scandal and betrayal. However, while speaking to Entertainment Tonight, in September 2023, Taylor expressed that they had reconnected after their family tragedies.

"It's wild to even think about that all happening after I just experienced it with Olivia. And having never lost a person who is super, super close to me, so of course Olivia has been incredible in reaching out to me and, you know, on that level of our friendship where it's, like, this weird, horrible club to be a part of, but there we are, we're together in it," she shared.

Taylor added, "You will get to see a little bit of my brother [on the season] and just know that he is, like, the most awesome, fun-loving, easygoing, caring human being and I'm excited that people get to see that, experience that."
