The Surreal Life was the brainchild of television producer Cris Abrego. A reality show akin to preceding shows such as MTV’s The Real World and The Challenge, The Surreal Life hosted a cast of eccentric celebrities all in the twilight of their respective careers as they competed in classic reality TV challenges.

The cast tried to co-exist while living together for the duration of the season, all to the delight of the viewers. Wacky hijinks and controversial situations such as Season 4’s Chyna and her encounter with ex-Sean Waltman, were all par for the course until the series’ end in 2006.
