It's always interesting to find out whether or not a celebrity had a career before they got famous. Many have regular jobs just working to make some money, while others used to have jobs that were out of the box. Believe it or not, there have been plenty of celebrities who worked for other stars before they became famous in their own right.

Looking back on their former careers and the celebs they worked for is hilarious, considering where they all are these days.

10 Meghan Markle

Before Megan Markle married royalty, and before she was on Deal Or No Deal, or Suits, she was actually a freelance calligrapher. Back when Robin Thicke was set to marry Paula Patton, he enlisted the help of Megan for his wedding invitations — Megan handwrote all of the invitations for Robin and Paula's wedding. When she was in Catholic school she took a handwriting class which helped her perfect her calligraphy. As a result, she spent a lot of time putting her talents to good use when she struggled to book an acting job.

9 Bethenny Frankel

Before Bethenny Frankel became a famous Real Housewife and an entrepreneur and businesswoman, she worked for the rich and famous. In fact, she helped raise some of the richest and famous. She once worked for Kathy Hilton — Paris and Nicky Hilton’s mom. Bethenny was a nanny for Paris and Nicky as they grew up. She helped Kathy raise the girls, bringing them and picking them up from school, helping with things around the house, and even helped cook the family meals.

8 Kim Kardashian

We all know that it was a sex tape that really got Kim Kardashian and her family famous. However, before that, Kim was working for some famous people. Back in the early 2000s, we saw Paris Hilton and Kim hanging out a lot and it wasn’t because they were just friends, but she also worked for Paris too.

Kim was Paris’ personal assistant, hired to help her out with everything and anything that she could possibly need. She was also Paris’ closet organizer, as she took care of her clothes due to her constant need to shop and buy new things. Not long after, Keeping Up With The Kardashians was born, and Kim was launched into stardom.

7 Allison Williams

Actress Allison Williams is most known for her role on Girls as Marnie. Before she got that role that kicked off her career, however, she had to get her start somewhere. That foot in the door came in the form of working for none other than Tina Fey. Allison worked alongside Tina as her second assistant when she was on 30 Rock. Allison claimed that being Tina's assistant was great for her because she got to experience so many things firsthand, in addition to helping her learn about the movie and TV industry.

6 Khloe Kardashian

Kim wasn’t the only Kardashian to work for another celebrity before they became famous. Khloe Kardashian also found work with another celebrity before getting her foot in the door. She was the personal assistant of none other than Nicole Richie. Khloe worked for Nicole at the height of Nicole’s career while she was starring in The Simple Life with Paris Hilton. She wasn’t Nicole’s personal assistant for very long, though. As she went on to be famous with her own reality show and the rest of her family.

5 Kanye West

Before Kanye made it big as a rapper in his own right, he had to work hard to get there. For a while, he was mentored by Jay-Z, and in return, Kanye helped Jay-Z get back on top of the rap charts. Back in the 1990s, Kanye was hired as a producer at Jay-Z’s label  Roc-A-Fella Records. He helped Jay-Z record many songs and helped Jay revitalize his own career before Jay signed Kanye as an artist to Roc-A-Fella Records where he went on to create his own music and become a superstar in his own right.

4 Eric Stonestreet

Modern Family’s Eric Stonestreet took some time to get his foot in the door as an actor. Before that, he had a few different jobs, one of them was working for country superstar Garth Brooks. Back in the 90s, Eric was Garth’s bodyguard. Eric even posted a few photos showing off his time as a bodyguard, keeping crazed fans away from Garth.

He made sure nothing happens to him at his concerts, and that no one can get past him to Garth. It was a short time in his life that he worked security, but a fond memory that he looks back on now that he’s a famous actor. These days you can find him backstage with Garth rather than keeping him safe.

3 Jennifer Garner

Like many other actors and actresses, Jennifer Garner struggled for a few years while looking for the role that would ultimately put her on the map. That role would ultimately be Alias, however, she worked as a waitress in New York City and was trying to get by. When she scored a small role in Spin City, she met Stephen Colbert. Stephen was in need of a babysitter for his daughter Madeleine, and Jennifer was willing to take the job on in order to make some extra money.

2 Jenna Dewan

Jenna Dewan stole our hearts in Step Up with her amazing dancing abilities. Little did we know, dancing has always been in her blood. Before she became an actress she spent a lot of her career dancing. In fact, she worked for Justin Timberlake for quite some time as one of his backup dancers. It was quite a long time ago, as she recalled dancing for him while he was still dating Britney Spears, and after they broke up. She even admitted to having a bit of a fling with Justin as the two dated for a brief time after he broke up with Britney.

1 Mindy Kaling

Before Mindy Kaling became the actress and writer that we know and love today, she also had to get her foot in the door somehow. When she was a sophomore at Dartmouth Collect in 1999, she actually scored an internship at Late Night with Conan O’Brien. While interning there, she was a scriptwriter intern where she learned the ins and outs of writing and production. She spent a lot of time watching Conan, and it gave her a lot of information when it came to following her own dreams. Thanks to her internship, she became famous in her own right.
