The point guard's parents - Dell and Sonya Curry - were both there cheering him on with their new partners. The former couple just went through a nasty divorce after 33 years of marriage. Both sides accused the other of marriage infidelity.
Dell And Sonya Curry Were Seen Separately With Former Married Couple Steven Johnson And Nicki Smith
Sonya Curry is currently dating former NFL New England Patriots player Steven Johnson, one of Dell Curry's old college friends. Both of Steph's parents appeared with their respective new partners last Friday at TD Garden. It wasn't long before Twitter identified the woman Dell was with as Nicki Smith, the ex-wife of Johnson who Sonya is currently in a relationship with.
Dell Curry Accused Sonya Curry Of Cheating With Steven Johnson
Dell accused his estranged wife of cheating and being in a relationship with a former New England Patriots tight end in court documents. The documents were obtained by TMZ Sports. Steven Johnson was a 6th-round pick in the 1988 NFL Draft. In the docs, Dell says Sonya "began her extramarital affair with Mr. Johnson during the marriage and prior to the date of separation, and lied to him each time she cheated on him."
Sonya Curry Responded By Stating That Dell Cheating On Her Was An 'Open Secret'
Dell accused Sonya of living with Johnson in Tennessee and therefore should not be entitled to any alimony.
Sonya fought back in responding documents by claiming she's currently living on her own because Dell will not allow her to live at their family home. She confirmed she was in a relationship, but denied cheating on Dell.
Sonya stated the relationship with Johnson began "months after" she and Dell agreed to legally separate in March 2020. Sonya also accused Dell of cheating on her during the marriage - claiming it was an "open secret" that he hooked up with several women.
Sonya, 55, filed legal separation paperwork on June 14 in North Carolina after marrying Dell in 1988. As well as their Golden State Warriors superstar son Steph, 33, they also have another son Seth, 31, who has played for multiple NBA franchise. Sonya and Dell are also parents to daughter Sydel, 26.
