Stephen Colbert Heard It From Fans After Going Silent During His Interview With Bill Burr

Bill Burr is no stranger to late night interviews. The comedian has appeared on just about every late night program in the past. Seven years ago, fans felt like he was the perfect fit alongside Stephen Colbert. However, the opposite took place. The chemistry was non-existent between the two, and fans are convinced the host was having an off night. Every single time Burr set Colbert up with a joke, there really wasn't much of a response for the Late Show host. It was obvious things didn't match up between the two given that Burr hasn't appeared on the show since the horrible interview.

Over 11K fans took to the comments section and, as expected, Colbert took a lot of heat for his part.

Fans wrote, "Bill keeps tossing the ball to Colbert, and he just stands there."

Another fan also took exception to the audience and their lazy reactions during the interview. "It's so ironic how Bill literally says the crowds are so bad cause he has to walk them through the joke, and then he has to literally walk Stephen and the crowd through the joke."

Conan O'Brien's Chemistry With Bill Burr Is Unmatched

Take a look back at Conan's interviews with Bill Burr and it becomes obvious very quickly that no other host shares that type of chemistry with the comedian. That was once again the case a year ago, with Burr roasting Conan over his shoes. Conan isn't afraid to take a joke, and according to fans, can match Burr's toughness. The most liked YouTube comment reads, "These guys have always worked well together because Bill is nicer than he seems and Conan is tougher than he seems."

Conan O'Brien has an impressive net worth valued at $200 million.

Another fan wrote, "Bill Burr and Conan are always a great mix. Never a dull interview."

"Love the chemistry here. Also - Bill has very good observational skills and listening skills. Most of the funny parts were prompted by him observing something most people would overlook, or noticing a tiny detail that was said..."

Fans are clearly appreciative of the obvious chemistry between the two.

Given their different views, fans were taken aback by a certain tribute Stephen Colbert got emotional over.

Not only are fans appreciative of the chemistry, but the same holds true for Bill Burr, who understands the importance of getting the right chemistry with a late night show host, and how important it was towards his career success.

Bill Burr Admitted His Interviews With Conan O'Brien Mean The World To Him

Speaking with The Globe and Mail over a decade ago, Burr discussed the art of a late night show interview. Specifically, Burr was asked about his chemistry with Conan O'Brien. Burr admits his connection with the host is career-changing in many ways.

"They mean the world to me. When I was growing up, part of being a comedian was knowing how to panel, or be a guest. I watched everyone from George Gobel to Robin Williams, and even actors like Burt Reynolds, who had an unbelievable rapport with Johnny Carson. I still have a foot in that old school, where you come on a talk show and do a tight five [minutes] and kill. Or if they bring you over to the couch and you can continue making people laugh. It's a skill set."

Bill Burr appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live eight months ago.

During the same interview, Burr may have indirectly bashed Stephen Colbert. He credited Conan and Jimmy Fallon for changing the landscape of late night shows, but didn't mention anything about Colbert.

"For a while, there was the anti-interview interviewer, where the person just asks dumb questions and they actually try to make the guests look stupid. Jimmy Fallon and Conan O'Brien are throwbacks. To be honest with you, the reason I do so well on Conan is because of Conan."

Fans want to see more of Conan and Bill together for years to come. As for Burr and Colbert, well, let's just say the odds of that happening again are very slim...
