Colbert also had a great chat alongside Jennifer Aniston. At the time of the interview, the two had a lot to talk about, including Aniston's Instagram record at the time, along with her remarkable dress that had lots of different purposes.
We'll take a closer look at their interview, and what was said between the two. Aniston talked about her life before fame, and we'll also reveal the final moment Jennifer Aniston was able to go out without getting recognized, just prior to her fame on Friends.
Stephen Colbert Asked Jennifer Aniston Permission To Talk About Her Multi-Purpose Dress
It was a fun chat between Jennifer Aniston and Stephen Colbert on the Late Show. Colbert discussed Aniston's insane Instagram accomplishment, breaking Price Harry's record by reaching over 1 million followers on Instagram in just over five hours. Aniston also received a warm reception for her photo alongside the Friends cast. Aniston revealed that getting together with the entire cast takes place roughly every two years given everyone's schedule, but she was seeing the women regularly.
The interview takes a twist when Colbert asks Aniston about her outfit. To his credit, he asks permission before asking about the dress. He says, "Before we go, can I talk about this dress? Can I point something out?" Aniston responds, "You can do whatever you want."
Colbert is impressed by how the dress is multipurpose. "It is fantastic. It has something that you rarely see in any dress." Colbert would go on to unhook the bottom part, which can hook onto the back like a cape. Colbert refers to Aniston as a superhero. As expected, the moment receives a loud applause from the audience.
The moment can be seen towards the end of the clip below.
Aniston was a great sport and even allowed Colbert to put on the cape.
Fans praised Colbert for the interview and how he asked permission to talk about Jen's dress.
The fan writes, "Thank you, Stephen Colbert, for modeling the process of getting consent. You seemed like you would genuinely have accepted a no, and asked at multiple salient points. Good stuff. We need more of that in media."
A great moment between the two.
Jennifer Aniston Also Discussed Her Life Before Fame Alongside Stephen Colbert
Aniston discussed other topics, including how she waitressed for two and a half years before landing her first acting gig. Aniston admitted that she wasn't the best at her former occupations. She tells Colbert, “I was a terrible waitress. I was a hostess, then they finally allowed me to be a waitress.”
Aniston would go on to reveal that she made less money as a hostess while receiving lots of business cards. Ironically, Stephen Colbert also worked as a waiter prior to his Hollywood days. What a small world, the host actually went to college with David Schwimmer as the two both enrolled in an acting class. Colbert revealed that he was jealous of Schwimmer's success early on in Hollywood.
Aniston ended up doing just fine, exploding with fame thanks to Friends. Aniston still remembers her final moments before the fame started to hit.
Jennifer Aniston Remembers What Her Final Moments Before Fame Were Like
It was a trip to Vegas before Friends aired that proved to be the last moments of the Friends' cast pre-fame. Director Jimmy Burrows advised the cast that things were going to change dramatically once the show aired, and that the cast members needed to stay close despite the fame.
Aniston recalls, “Jimmy Burrows, our director, decided, he said, ‘I want to take the cast to Vegas and I want to take them to dinner.’ And he took us to dinner at Spago at Caesar’s palace, and we were like, ‘We’re so fancy.’”
“‘This world can be pretty dark, and you guys gotta really stick together and take care of each other. And we took that to heart for sure, obviously. And then he handed us each a couple hundred bucks and said, ‘Now go into the casino and go gamble because this is the last time you’ll be able to walk into a casino anonymously.’ And we had no clue what he was talking about… and sure enough, that was the last time we were able [do that].”
Burrows was spot on with his advice for Aniston and the cast. After season 1 came to an end, it was already evident that the show was going to explode.
