7th Heaven aired for 11 seasons and 243 episodes. Despite its obvious success, a reboot likely won't be taking place. Catherine Hicks admitted that too much time has gone by, and that the only way a revival could have taken shape would be with Stephen Collins' character on the show in a coffin.
Clearly, Collins destroyed his reputation with the cast, and the same holds true with all of Hollywood after he was caught on tape speaking about his disturbing past.
In the following, we're going to take a closer look at Biel's time on the show, and how things were made difficult for the actress. A particular photoshoot rocked her career, and Stephen Collins was among those to take a stand against it. Let's take a look back at how it all went down.
Jessica Biel Admits Those On The Set Of 7th Heaven Were Shocked By Her Photoshoot With Gear Magazine
Wanting to change her image in Hollywood, Jessica Biel agreed to a revealing photoshoot with Gear Magazine. The shoot took place when Biel was only 17, but was released when she turned 18. Nonetheless, it created chaos, and that was especially true when she returned to set following the release of the photos.
Biel called it a tense atmosphere, while she had to apologize for it, particularly to Aaron Spelling.
Biel recalls with E News, "I certainly had to apologize to Aaron Spelling. I think my entire crew and cast were, needless to say, shocked," she recalled. "The worst part was I had to go back to work. The thing comes out and literally I had to go back to work that next morning. Everybody was… they didn't know if they should look me in the eye and I was just a mess. I didn't…you're young. You don't mean to hurt people. You don't mean to do this."
Although it was viewed as a calculated move, Biel claims she didn't have that type of intent, and was just celebrating the fact that she felt like a woman. Ultimately, Biel called the moment a lesson, while her peers also took exception to the photoshoot.
Stephen Collins Wasn't Happy With Jessica Biel's Photoshoot And Claimed It Sent The Wrong Message To His Kids
Stephen Collins' life was completely rocked in 2014 when he made his disturbing reveal. The actor was canceled from Hollywood and would proceed to move off the map. However, at the time of Jessica Biel's photoshoot, he made it a point to release a statement and mention that his co-star wasn't sending a good message to the youth.
Collins said, "The press has gotten Jessica Biel's age wrong in their recent stories about he. She's not 18, as has been widely reported. She's 17, a minor," he tells Ny Daily News.
"And as such," he said, "Jessica's photo spread was child po*********. I don't want my kid to get the message that that's okay."
The now disgraced 7th Heaven actor continued, "As a parent of a young daughter, this is very disturbing to me."
As far as Biel's motives are concerned, she was just feeling good at the time and wanted to explore her new stage in life.
Biel would go on to reveal that her 7th Heaven contract in general was not easy to follow.
Jessica Biel Was Not A Fan Of All The Restrictions She Had On Her 7th Heaven Contract
Looking back, Biel claims she was an angel compared to the way things evolved in Hollywood in the later years. The actress revealed that following her 7th Heaven contract was not easy, and she faced a lot of boundaries for her career because of it for the longest time.
"I think I definitely sort of butted up against those limitations and those boundaries for a multitude of reasons. Because, yeah you know, you can only do so much with a particular character specifically on a show like that," she explained.
"We really had to sort of stay in the boundaries of a somewhat religious family and teaching lessons, and when ya know you're 16, 14, 15, 16, you get to a point when you're like oh man, I just want to do something different. I just want to cut my hair, and I just want to dye it a different color and I can't do all these things because I have this contract."
Without a doubt once the show came to an end, Biel must've felt a great sense of freedom as far as her career was concerned.
