There simply is no stopping Sydney Sweeney.
The breakout star of Euphoria has a career that many young actors dream of. Not only has she been on multiple hit TV shows, including her Emmy-nominated turn in The White Lotus, but she's made successful indie films and will even appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Despite her achievements, Sydney has been faced with a barrage of scandals that would cripple just about anyone else.
But there seems to be nothing that's going to keep this talented beauty from being canceled. And her responses to these intense controversies prove it...
Sydney Sweeney's Lawsuit With LA Collective
Actors find themselves in lawsuits all of the time. But Sydney Sweeney's conflict with the swimwear brand LA Collective has taken a pretty nasty turn.
According to Radar Online, Sydney's legal team has claimed that the company has taken part in "disgusting" attacks on her in the courtroom.
LA Collective originally alleged that Sydney broke a contract with them to market their swimwear. On top of this, they claimed that she "appropriated the designs[…]for her own use", resulting in a potential loss of millions of dollars. But now they are reportedly also slamming her for being a "B-movie star" and shaming her for showing off her body.
"The internet is also replete with videos and pictures of Sweeney n*ked and engaging in activity that appeals to the prurient interest," court documents, allegedly written by representatives of LA Collective, said, according to Radar Online. "Since she is obviously not ready for prime time and may never be, Sweeney needed to supplement her income by launching a swimwear line that she could promote by wearing the products on her television show."
LA Collective allegedly then stated that Sydney believes she would have "suffered reputational damage" had she continued to be associated with them. Their response to these unconfirmed statements was ever harsher than what they allegedly also wrote.
"It is hard to understand how she would suffer any more reputation damage than what she has already incurred as a result of her p*rnographic videos and salacious internet depictions, which were entirely self-inflicted wounds."
According to the source, Sydney's lawyer called out these attacks by saying that the attempt to discredit the Euphoria star is "particularly disgusting and offensive to women, but perhaps entirely consistent with LA Collective’s (and its lawyer’s) abhorrent reputation in the industry."
Her lawyer then added, "It is no wonder that Sweeney refused to associate or do business with LA Collective and its owners."
This aside, Sydney nor her lawyers have publicly addressed the lawsuit. Clearly, doing their best to leave it behind in the dust.
It's water off a duck's back, as they say.
Sydney Sweeney Has Been Body-Shamed And Constantly Objectified
It's sad that Sydney is more than used to being body-shamed. She has been open about how classmates used to tease her for developing breasts at a young age. But what she's experiencing now is so much more extreme.
Aside from haters and far-right puritans who loathe the fact that Sydney has shown off her body multiple times in Euphoria and projects like Amazon Prime's The Voyeurs, some on the far-left have also attacked her.
Most notably after Sydney rocked an early-2000s mini-skirt and crop-top at the 2022 MTV Movie Awards.
In an article published by Yahoo News, writer Kerry Justich called the outfit "triggering" for people who can't achieve such a figure. The article also featured several other self-proclaimed "body positivity activists" who claimed the outfit was a "threat" to progress made in that arena.
In short, those who claim to be against body-shaming actually shamed Sydney for wearing something that worked for her petite but curvy figure.
So, what was Sydney's response? ...Well, she proudly displayed the outfit on her Instagram and has never shied away from wearing exactly what she feels confident in.
Of course, Sydney's level of confidence in her body has also attracted a lot of creepy DMs and cat-calling, even at the MET Gala.
While Sydney has addressed the horribly inappropriate comments she often gets from men, she has retooled the conversation to suit her goals. This includes talking about how the industry, and people in general, mistreat female actors who do NSFW scenes.
But most impressively, Sydney does her best to not let these awful things get to her. She continues to take on the roles she wants, and she doesn't apologize for it.
Sydney Sweeney Has Been Attacked For Not Being Attractive Enough
Despite being the new 'It Girl', Sydney has also been attacked for her looks. Most notably when she trended on Twitter for being "ugly".
While Sydney initially broke down on Instagram live, showing the very real consequences to online bullying, she has since brushed the incident off. This includes sharing a story that she was advised not to audition for Euphoria because of her looks.
Sydney Sweeney's MAGA Controversy
Sydney Sweeney's latest controversy involves a surprise 60th birthday party she threw her mother. The party was country-themed and featured all the accouterments one would expect.
While some called her a "Republican" (which has become synonymous with 'racist' in some online circles) for the theme alone, others took issues with the presence of a Thin Blue Line t-shirt and MAGA hats.
Although, technically, they weren't MAGA hats. They were a satirical take on Donald Trump's "Make America Great Again" slogan... "Make 60 Great Again".
Regardless, numerous media outlets have reported that some are trying to cancel Sydney.
In response to this, Sydney took to Twitter...
"You guys this is wild. An innocent celebration for my mom's milestone 60th birthday has turned into an absurd political statement, which was not the intention," Sydney wrote. "Please stop making assumptions. Much love to everyone ❤️ and Happy Birthday Mom!"
While those on both sides of the political aisle are trying to make an example of Sydney's party, the actor is doing her best to focus on what it really was... a beautiful gesture for someone she loves.
Despite all the attempts against her, Sydney is determined to stick to her guns and live her life the way she wants to. And that kind of strength isn't broken by social media mobs, creeps, or haters.
