The couple has been spotted together publicly several times, with People Magazine noting these outings included attending a Hulu 2018 Emmy Party, a basketball ball game for the New York Knicks in Madison Square Garden in 2019, and a romantic trip in 2020 to Maui, Hawaii. This handful of events is much less frequent than many other celebrity pairings; think back to Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson's brief romance, for example. Reports regarding Sweeney and Davino becoming engaged first emerged when Sweeney was seen sporting an engagement ring during an outing on Feb 28, 2022, and People Magazine later confirmed the news. They were not the only publication to do so, Entertainment Tonight also commented on the reports, with a source revealing that Sweeney was "happily engaged."
"She has been thinking about wedding planning," the source added. "Sydney and Jonathan are excited to get married and are hoping to have their wedding in the spring of next year." If this report is true, then it will not be long before Sydney Sweeney is a married woman!
Why Does Sydney Sweeney Not Want To Make Her Relationship With Jonathan Davino Public?
Sweeney has made the decision to become an actress and the media attention that comes with that can be intense. In an effort to protect her relationship from this, she has not shared photos of them on her social media, nor has she spoken about their coupling in interviews. She has, however, addressed why she will not do this.
"I don't date people in the spotlight," she told Cosmopolitan. "I don't date actors or musicians or anyone in entertainment because I can just be normal Syd that way, and it's easiest. I have a great support system. I have people who will battle for me and allow me to be on the pedestal and shine without making me feel like, 'Oh no, I'm shining too bright and I need to step back,'" she explained.
As a celebrity, the relationships she has are very important. The people she chooses to surround herself with can keep her grounded and accountable so that Sweeney does not lose who she is and can enjoy as much normalcy as possible.
What Does Sydney Sweeney Want From Her Fiance?
Sydney Sweeney has commented that she does not want to date people who are famous and instead wants to be with someone who is normal. But normal does not mean that Jonathan Davino is not someone special, it also sounds like he may be her best friend.
She was asked by Cosmopolitan what it was that she wanted from her partner, to which she replied: "I look for a best friend. I need to be able to be with someone who I can literally hang out with 24/7 and never get sick of, and we laugh every single day."
Many people will argue that it is important to be with someone who you not only connect with on a romantic level but can also be completely comfortable with and treat as though they are your best friend. It sounds like Sweeney has a healthy relationship, which is why it is not surprising that she wants to protect it. There is also a 13-year age difference between them, but this does not seem to be an issue.

It also sounds like she has plans to start a family with Davino. This can be assumed from the comments she made to The Hollywood Reporter about wanting to be a young mom (she was born on Sept. 12, 1997, so she is in her mid-20s).
"I want to have a family, I've always wanted to be a young mom, and I'm worried about how this industry puts stigmas on young women who have children and looks at them in a different light," she told the publication. "I was worried that, if I don't work, there is no money and no support for kids I would have." The reporter also noted she refused to comment on her relationship status and did not wear her engagement ring to the interview.
It is interesting to note that Sydney Sweeney describes herself as "a very open person," telling the publication, "I love to talk about everything." She may have been referencing a role as Madame Web, but it is still refreshing to see her willingness to open up about many aspects of her life, just not her relationship. And why should she have to, right? She is happy, and she is thriving, and part of that can maybe be contributed to her fiancé.
