The Sun reportedly called this 'the worst interview ever!' Kelly Clarkson was deemed rude during her interview with Sydney Sweeney. This has been a common problem in the past among viewers. Kelly Clarkson's talk show has a different dynamic in that the host chimes in quite often with guests, and shares her own stories. In this particular chat with Sydney Sweeney, fans didn't appreciate the approach, and felt as though Sweeney couldn't tell any of her stories.
Fans particularly took exception to Clarkson asking Sweeney about her family traditions on the holidays, only to cut Sydney off constantly, while sharing her own take and experiences with the kids.
Fans were torn looking back at the interview.
The negativity:
- "The worst interviewer ever...... Let your guests speak..... She's always talking over people."

It Wasn't The Only Time Kelly Clarkson Received Heat For Her Interview Conduct
Even in recent times, Kelly Clarkson is getting heat for interrupting guests. So much so that fans felt as though she was showing signs of ADHD during her "Ozempic" interview with Whoopi Goldberg. Once again, Clarkson asked Goldberg about her weight loss, only to reveal her own story.
She tells Whoopi, "My doctor chased me for like two years. I was like, no, I'm afraid of it, I already have thyroid problems. Everyone thinks it's Ozempic, but it is not, it is something else. It is something that aids in breaking down the sugar. Obviously, my body doesn't do it right."
How did the fans react?
- "I have a feeling Kelly has ADHD. People say she talks over people, but I honestly think her mind is moving a thousand miles an hour and she’s just really excited to conversate. I can get the same way and people will say something to me about it and it feels like it comes out of left field haha. I loved this convo - their energies work well together and you can tell there’s such a mutual respect," the fan wrote on YouTube.

"Kelly Clarkson is kind of annoying, she's always interrupting her guests and being inconvenient. She also thinks she's funnier than she is. I remember when she and Kirsten Dunst had a awkward conversation because she dissed another actor to praise Kirsten and Kirsten groaned so Kelly tried to course correct," the thread intro reads.
It would appear as though a lot of fans agreed:
- "Came to reddit to see if anyone else thought this. She is terrible. How has no one ever said to her that she needs to shut up, let her guests speak and stop making it all about her?"
- "What is it with her? She has to win every game and actually acts so childish about this. Maybe she should just sing. She is a beautiful singer but terrible host."
Although she has generated negativity, Clarkson continues to land the biggest stars in Hollywood. Clearly, her guests might not feel the same way as viewers, and might actually appreciate the approach with less pressure.
Sydney Sweeney Did Have A Feel Good Story During Her Interview With Kelly Clarkson
At the very least, Sweeney's interview did have a feel good moment. The star discussed buying back her family's home after a financial struggle forced them to sell.
Sweeney detailed:
“My great-grandma had this beautiful house,” Sweeney explained. “It was a two bedroom, cute little house that they lived in. My grandma was born in it. My mom was born in it, and then as the kids got older, they built on the property another home.”
“And when my great-grandpa passed away and my great-grandma got old, they just couldn’t afford to keep it anymore.”
Sweeney also revealed during the interview that her parents filed for bankrupcy during her youth.
Sweeney then revealed that the story had a great ending.
“Last year I called up the owners and was like, I wanna buy my great-grandma’s house back,” Sweeney concluded. “And it’s really cool too. My granny still lives in the house next door, so, I’m neighbors with my granny now.”
Clarkson agreed that the story was like a "Hallmark movie."
