Daniel Radcliffe's Full Biography
The world has grown up with Daniel Radcliffe as the one and only Harry Potter, of course. Beyond the books made into movies, though, Radcliffe has much more to offer than patronus charm's and a famous scar on his forehead.
Daniel Radcliffe's Early Life/Education
Less than ten years before J.K. Rowling's first Harry Potter book was released, Daniel Jacob Radcliffe was born in London, England, in 1989. His parents, Alan Radcliffe and Marcia Gresham, were both actors who had previously worked in the entertainment industry.
Marcia later became a casting director, collaborating with producers to discover talent for film and television roles, while Alan pursued a career as a literary agent, assisting authors in securing publishing contracts.
Alan later put his own career on hold to manage his son's. Daniel Radcliffe, an only child, had a strong desire to be an actor from a young age, but his parents wouldn't let him audition for major professional roles. You see, at the age of 6, he was cast as a monkey in a school play, and that was it for him. From that point on, he persistently asked his parents if he could do more.
He enrolled in acting classes since he wasn't able to go to castings. This way, he could not only perfect his acting skills, but in a sense, he got to act, and that's what he wanted. His dedication and persistence eventually paid off when he landed the major role of Harry in the famous Harry Potter franchise.
Daniel Radcliffe's Career
Harry Potter was his big break, obviously. It started in the 2001 movie adaptation of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by the now insanely famous author, J.K. Rowling. ICYMI, Harry Potter, is an orphan living under the stairs at his uncle's house and enrolls in the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry because, "You're a wizard, Harry!"
As a result of the movie's success at the box office, he returned to play the title character in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002), Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004), Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005), Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007), Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009), Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 (2010), and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 (2011).
