In September 2024, People published an article about how Tammy Slaton's surgeon reacted to how much her health had improved. That article revealed that Tammy originally received bariatric weight loss surgery in July 2022.

In her Instagram video, Tammy began by explaining that her health was struggling because her body needed more after her bariatric surgery.

"So right now, I'm dealing with a protein issue. I need to eat more protein. If you're on a bariatric journey, you know sometimes that can be hard, to eat more than what your body will allow. "

Since Tammy underwent the surgery, she has lost hundreds of pounds. Some fans have come to believe that Tammy having a crush on her surgeon may have played a role in her health success following her surgery.

After all the weight that she has lost, Tammy Slaton still wants to undergo another surgery. In September 2024, People published an article focused on Tammy's desire for skin removal surgery to get rid of the excess loose skin she has following her weight loss.
