It appears Teen Mom star Amber Portwood has ended her engagement to Gary Wayt under very bizarre circumstances, considering he was declared a missing person only a few days after they got engaged. Amber Reportedly Spoke To Her Ex To Get Closure
“They’ve decided that it’s over between them and their engagement is off,” a source told Us Weekly. “They have too much to overcome to move forward together.”
Though previous reports say Gary wasn’t speaking to Amber, the insider says they’ve since been in touch, but apparently only to provide “closure.” “He’s not ghosting her,” they explained.
“Amber took off the engagement ring and it’s the best thing,” they went on. “She is sad and she cares about him, but she is willing to see that he is not the right guy for her. She wants to be with someone who accepts her fully.”
They also gave insight into what may have caused the tension in their relationship, leading to the explosive argument that led Gary to flee his then-fiancé, only for Amber to file a missing person report when she couldn’t get in contact with him.

“Gary’s family was looking her up online and looking at her past and not everything they saw online was true,” Us Weekly’s source went on, saying the couple’s engagement created “family tension.” Amber has a history of criminal charges and substance abuse, and even spent several years in jail, as documented on the MTV reality show.
“And it was hard for Amber because she’s been trying so hard to move past it and move forward,” they noted.
Earlier this month, Amber reported her boyfriend as a missing person after he abruptly left with only his car keys and wallet, following a heated argument. This incident occurred just a few days after Gary and Amber had announced their engagement.
