On March 26th, it was time for the five contestants of Group C from The Masked Singer Season 13 to shine as they took the stage for "Carnival Night." The contestants included Cherry Blossom, Nessy, Mad Scientist Monster, Stud Muffin, and Yorkie, who all impressed the four celebrity panelist, consisting of Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg, Ken Jeong, and Rita Ora.

Night one ended in Cherry Blossom's elimination, and underneath that mask was a fan-favorite childhood star that stumped all the four panelists — which may have been thanks to her ability to belt out Jennifer Lopez's hit "Lets Get Loud." Everyone was shocked to see Full House actress, Candace Cameron Bure, revealing herself as Cherry Blossom.

Surprisingly, Candace had been asked to do the show three times before she eventually got that push she needed from her family.

The Masked Singer Group C Premiere Ended With The Elimination Of Favorite Childhood Star, Candace Cameron Bure

Cherry Blossom Was Unmasked As The Full House Star During "Carnival Night"

The Masked Singer's "Carnival Night" kicked off with the premiere of Group C and the first elimination of the night was a surprising one. Cherry Blossom came on to the stage and got everyone on their feet when she sang a rendition of Jennifer Lopez's "Let's Get Out." However, the panelists were stumped by who was underneath the mask with guesses including Jessica Biel (Rita Ora), Tracey Gold (Robin Thicke), Jennie Garth (Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg), Tina Fey, from Ken Jeong.

Full House actress Candace Cameron Bure was unmasked, and the panelists were clearly shocked, although Robin's guess was super close as he worked alongside Candace's brother, Kirk Cameron, on several episodes of Growing Pains. Fans of the 80s sitcom also know that Robin's father, Alan Thicke, starred as Dr. Jason Seaver on the show.

In fact, during her reveal, Robin and Candace admitted that they used to date for a week when they were kids! During her interview with ScreenRant, Candace thought that Robin would be the panelist who would guess her correctly thanks to her clues:

"And then the package that they had ... all of the clues were really geared towards Robin, because Robin and I have known each other since we were kids. And he was my first crush. And, you know, all of the things. So it would have been super cute. And I feel like Robin would have probably had a good idea that it was me had I made it one more week."

Candace's clues included:

  • Here to honor a friend, who was on the show before (Bob Saget, who starred on Full House and passed away in 2022).
  • Christmas tree shown (starred in several Hallmark movies).
  • Reveals she’s a “Best Selling” author (wrote several New York Times best-selling books).
  • Says she’s “done it all before” in her career (actress, author, former The View co-host),
  • She has kids (Candace is a mom of 3 kids with her husband Valeri Bure).
  • Full moon shown (in reference to Full House).

There have been a lot of celebrities on the show with different types of careers—some more successful than others.

Candace Cameron Bure Had Turned Down The Masked Singer Three Times

Candace Is Happy She Finally Took The Stage

Producers on The Masked Singer really wanted to get Candace on the show. However, she revealed in her interview with Screen Rant that she turned down the offer to appear on stage three times. Her reasoning? The actress was nervous to sing on stage in front of a live audience.

"I actually turned down the show three times. This was the fourth time they asked me to do it. And I finally said yes because I was just so nervous about it. But I'm really glad that I said yes.”

Additionally, in her interview, the actress admitted that she decided to choose Jennifer Lopez's "Lets Get Out" because it was the easiest to sing and could get the audience dancing along despite how she might sound.

"Well, they give you a bunch of options. And it was Carnival Week. And so I thought, this is kind of the perfect song for me because, vocally, it wasn't too difficult because I'm not a singer.”

And that was my big fear … was just singing in front of a whole lot of people and on live television. So I didn't want to embarrass myself. So I felt like this was a really fun ‘pump it up’ song. Just have a great time without being too challenging for me. I felt like it hit in my sweet spot and I could perform it and not crash and burn."

In Candace's interview with Variety, she shared that she was also hesitant to do the show because of her "perfectionist personality." She thanked her husband, Valeri, and kids for giving her the needed push to take on something that would "build confidence."

She continued, "When someone keeps knocking at the door and you keep turning them away, you finally open it up to kind of get rid of them! That was a little bit of it too. I’m like, ‘OK, I just need to do this and get it over with!'"

The Masked Singer wasn't the first time Candace competed on a reality singing competition show. In January 2024, she appeared in We Are Family, a game show where non-famous relatives of celebrities perform duets with their famous family members who are hidden behind a screen.

Appearing in just one episode of the show, Candace appeared on stage with her cousin, Kenzie Mae, to sing "Hot Stuff" by Donna Summer. Candace shared with Screen Rant that being on the show helped prepare her for The Masked Singer.

"It really did. Had I not done that show, I would probably have said no a fourth time to The Masked Singer. Yeah, ‘cause that is something that I'm not comfortable doing," she shared. "And when I did the other show with my cousin, I did it for my cousin. I said yes to her, but that kind of gave me the little push that I needed to say, ‘Okay, I can do this.’ And so it made me feel more comfortable having that experience."

Candace was 11 years old when she first appeared on Full House, starring as D.J. Tanner.

Candace actually has quite the reality TV experience. She also competed on Season 18 of Dancing With the Stars. The actress was paired with professional dancer Mark Ballas, with the couple placing third. She told Screen Rant that despite having to learn new dances every week, competing on The Masked Singer was way more nerve-wracking.

"...Because you got to go week to week to week, there was just so much growth in that experience that it was incredible. But this was like ... Masked Singer was one and done for me," she shared.

Cameron wished that she would have gone a lot further on The Masked Singer. Next up is "Boy Band Night," which would have been perfect for the 90's child star.

The Masked Singer returns on April 2nd, at 8/7c on FOX, and is available to stream on Hulu the next day.
