With a reported net worth of nearly $1 billion, it’s no surprise that Kim Kardashian has worn some very expensive outfits over the years, including gowns and jewelry that cost well over a million dollars. Below, we look at some of the most expensive things Kim has worn in her lifetime.
11 Birkin Bag Painted By North
Birkins are one of the most expensive designer bags on the market, and can easily cost tens of thousands of dollars. So, people were shocked when Kanye West gifted Kim a Birkin valued at $20,000 for her 34th birthday. But what was surprising was that it hand-painted by their eldest child, who was only a baby at the time.
"I just wanted to look at this masterpiece, guys," Kim said in a video posted online about her daughter’s creation. "I knew she would be such a great artist. Right, North?"
10 Kim’s Second Wedding Dress
It may not have been as lavish as her wedding to Kanye, but Kim and Kris Humphries’ nuptials set them back a pretty penny. The soirée cost $10 million in total, though the bill was largely footed by E!, since the ceremony as televised.
Kim had a couple dress changes for the wedding, but her Vera Wang gown cost a reported $25,000. Her dresses plus those worn by her bridesmaids and mother, Kris Jenner, cost $150,000 in total.
9 Balmain Monochromatic Outfit
During 2020’s Paris Fashion Week, Kim showed up in a monochromatic outfit from Balmain, worth $28,750 in total. The List reports the latex blazer cost $17,095, the turtleneck went for $6,150, and the latex leggings were the least expensive part of the outfit, valued at $2,750.
8 A Hand-Painted Birkin Bag
Birkin bags are notorious for having a high price tag. They start around $10,000 but can reach up to $300,000 in value. When they first started dating, Kanye West surprised Kim with a Birkin in 2013, valued at $40,000. Part of the bag’s value comes from the fact it was hand-painted by American artist George Condo.
7 $50,000 Diaper Bag
When Kim welcomed her first child, daughter North, in 2013, she chose a very pricey option for a diaper bag. The reality star reportedly chose a $50,000 Birkin bag to tote her baby’s diapers in.
6 $72,000 White House Outfit
Kim dressed to impress when she visited the White House during the Trump era. Newsweek reports that her outfit cost $72,000 in total, which included a $925 blazer and $1,210 pants. However, it was her pochette handbag from Hermes that cost the most, valued at $69,775.
5 $90,000 Yeezy Shoes
Even after their divorce, Kim has continued to support Kanye’s fashion brand Yeezy by wearing its products. She was once spotted wearing a pair of limited-edition Yeezys. Though they were originally sold for $275, people later bought them on re-selling platforms for as much as $90,000.
4 Her Wedding Dress Cost Half A Million
Kim and Kanye’s wedding cost approximately $12 million, which included a $400,000 venue and a $7,000 cake. However, perhaps the most expensive cost was Kim’s Givenchy lace wedding gown, which set the couple back a cool $500,000.
3 Million-Dollar Engagement Ring
Kanye also spared no expense when it came to picking out an engagement ring for Kim. The one he originally proposed with 15-carat cushion cut engagement ring worth $1.3 million in 2013. However, years later he upgraded it to a 20-carat engagement ring, worth a whopping $8 million, which also doubled as a 33rd birthday present.
2 Marilyn Monroe’s Million-Dollar Dress
Kim made waves when she showed up to the 2022 MET Gala wearing a dress formerly owned by Marilyn Monroe. The dress was originally purchased by the film actress for $1,400 in 1962 (which would be $13,000 by today’s standards).
However, the last time the dress went up for auction, it was bought for a cool $4.6 million. It now lives in Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Museum in Orlando, Florida. Kim allegedly damaged the dress when she wore it to the one-time event, leading to criticism from the public. “Historic garments should not be worn by anybody, public or private figures,” the International Council of Museums (ICOM) said in a May statement. “Prevention is better than cure.”
Moreover, Bob Mackie – the famed fashion designer and costumier who created the dress for Marilyn – expressed disapproval.
“I thought it was a big mistake,” he said. “[Marilyn] was a goddess. A crazy goddess, but a goddess. She was just fabulous. Nobody photographs like that. And it was done for her. It was designed for her. Nobody else should be seen in that dress.”
