Zack Snyder’s long-awaited cut of Justice League just saw a new trailer release. Following the trailer, a new poster has been released too.
Everything keeps in line with the black-and-white aesthetic the promotional campaign has been going with so far. This time, the new images shed light on the character of Aquaman.
This new movie is set to show Batman assembling a team after Superman’s death in order to protect Earth. The team includes Cyborg, Wonder Woman, Flash, and Batman.
The trailer shows some scenes where Aquaman is asked to lift his mother’s trident, and some other background voices by other heroes as well. The trailer itself didn't give a whole lot of detail, but it's not the content that has people talking.
In Joss Whedon's 2017 version of the movie, there was little to no mention of the backstories of some of the key members of Justice League - Cyborg, Flash, and Aquaman were all more two-dimensional characters. The Snyder Cut addresses this problem by showing a somewhat deeper backstory of each of these superheroes.
With the new solo Aquaman poster now being used for promotions, fans were quick to notice that the story of this Justice League seems far different from the previously released by Whedon. It is obvious that Snyder will have a deeper backstory in place for the superhero in his version of the film, something fans are very excited about.
Ray Fisher's Cyborg is, according to Snyder, the beating heart of the movie, as it will show Victor Stone's pre-Cyborg life and how he technologically transforms into the superhero.
Another stark difference is going to be in the final battle, where Lex Luthor will play a huge role in helping Bruce Wayne learn about the Mother Boxes. Steppenwolf's death could be a result of Wonder Woman beheading him, which was the originally intended ending in Snyder's version of the movie.
The Snyder Cut will also include the presence of Martian Manhunter, whose character will not be explained in a very full-fledged manner, but will be introduced in the team.
Snyder revealed in an interview in January that he had originally begun doubting if the studios would ever contact him for completing his cut. He had an unfinished cut kept at his house, with an original story, some visual effects and other material related to the movie all ready to go, but for a while, it seems his ideas were forgotten.
The director said, “I made peace with the fact that this was the world I was going to be in.” It turns out, when the studios contacted Snyder about what he thought would be another movie, it was the unfinished cut they wanted to release.
“It was a very enjoyable and beautiful moment that I shared with my family; it was truly an impossible dream come true,” he revealed as he talked about the movie. Snyder was originally contracted to direct the official cut of Justice League, but he had to pull out mid-production due to health concerns.
Fans worldwide are thrilled to be watching the Justice League cut as it was originally meant to be. The much-awaited, four-hour version of the film is set to release on the 18th of March, 2021.
