When it comes to employees at Dunder Mifflin, some of them deserve to keep their jobs and others simply do not. There were a handful of promotions that took place which made all the sense in the world while other promotions left viewers scratching their heads in confusion. The Officeis a quirky TV series that chronicles the mundane daily lives of a group of employees, mockumentary-style.
In real life, there are several Dunder Mifflin employees who would not be able to keep their job after just one day, based on their behaviors! In real life, people who work in office spaces are a lot more professional!
10 Hire: Jim Halpert
Jim Halpert can be a sarcastic wiseguy sometimes but that doesn’t take away from his sales record. If he wasn’t so intrigued by the idea of parking Dwight Schrute, Jim Halpert could easily be the best employee in the office. He never really enjoyed working at Dunder Mifflin but he still always made sales and did what he had to do to keep his job. He eventually left for Athlead which was the best choice for him but up until that point, he helped Dunder Mifflin thrive as a company.
9 Fire: Creed Bratton
Creed Bratton admittedly broke the law multiple times. He is a full-on criminal. The list of crimes he’s done in his life seems to be nearly endless. He’s made fake IDs for underage teens, used fake identities for himself, stolen from the office, and let’s not forget about the time he showed up to work with blood splatter all over his shirt. Who knows what kinds of shenanigans he was getting into, outside of the office.
8 Hire: Dwight Schrute
Dwight Schrute is the most dedicated and hard-working employee in the entire office. He is a stickler for rules, which can be annoying to those around him, but when it comes to his sales record, he is actually the best.
He does better with sales than Jim Halpert. He’s devotion to Dunder Mifflin, Michael Scott’s approval, and the distribution of paper are the things that drive him to succeed in business.
7 Fire: Kevin Malone
Kevin Malone has no business dealing with numbers. He should not be an accountant. According to Michael Scott, Kevin applied to work in the warehouse but Michael hired him upstairs as an accountant instead. Kevin made up his own number to balance the books and he called it “keleven”. He never really knew what was going on around him-- unless he was playing dumb for the cameras.
6 Hire: Pam Beesly
Anyone would hire Pam Beesly! She was an adorably sweet and shy receptionist at the beginning of the show. She failed as an artist and she failed as a saleswoman but she did succeed as an office administrator in the later seasons. Hiring Pam as a receptionist OR office administrator would work out because she actually cares about putting her best foot forward. In one episode, she admitted that she actually enjoyed working at Dunder Mifflin which is a plus.
5 Fire: Ryan Howard
Ryan Howard committed corporate fraud and got caught up with illegal substances while living in New York City. At Dunder Mifflin in Scranton, he disrespected Jim Halpert in front of others, treated Kelly horribly, and was constantly being super lazy. It wouldn’t be hard to let him go because he is the type of guy who might be better suited to work at the bowling alley!
4 Hire: Oscar Martinez
Oscar Martinez is the smartest guy in the office so of course, he deserves to get hired. He and Angela are two brilliant accountants who could easily pull off their job without the help of Kevin.
Angela isn't the accountant of choice because she has a sour attitude and rude personality. Oscar, on the hand, is friendlier and would be easier to work with. His knowledge of everything from politics to math, to grammar, and everything else is astounding.
3 Fire: Stanley Hudson
The only reason we’d fire Stanley Hudson (played by Leslie David Baker) is that he is so lazy. He hates his job and would rather spend the day doing crossword puzzles and napping. He never contributes during conference room meetings and he even sassed Michael Scott at one point-- something that genuinely hurt Michael’s feelings. Remember when he yelled, “Did I stutter?!” We do. Stanley would be better suited in a less demanding job… maybe in Florida!
2 Hire: Toby Flenderson
We would hire Toby Flenderson in a heartbeat. Pam Beesly described him as having a warm and calming presence in the office. It’s true! Even though Michael Scott didn't like him, he was still a likable guy. He deserved a hug-- especially since he was dealing with an unrequited love from Pam Beesly. He got a little bit of brief affection from Nellie Bertram but that quickly fizzled out. He was a gentle, soft-spoken guy with good intentions all along.
1 Fire: Meredith Palmer
Meredith Palmer was caught on camera drinking on the job multiple times. She would never admit the fact that she is truly an alcoholic but she doesn’t need to since it is so obvious to see. Holly Flax almost tried to get Meredith fired for hooking up with a guy who worked in supplier relations in exchange for company discounts. It was a conflict of interests but in Meredith’s eyes, reckless behavior like that is totally normal.
