BBC Received A Lot Of Heat From Other Journalists Worldwide Following Their Interview With Elon Musk
Several journalists and media personnel were quick to put BBC on blast following their interview alongside Elon Musk.
According to journalist, this wasn't the first time the network took such an approach to an interview, without doing thorough research. TalkTV's Kevin O'Sullivan commented, "You should do your research, James, don't just go in there with vague accusations, because Elon Musk as we saw wasn't having any of that. This is an old BBC technique, they'll hit you with vague allegations, but they can't get the details. That was not how to interview Elon Musk, and he really turned the tables on James Clayton."
Rebecca Ryan also commented, stating that this was nothing new for a BBC interview. "It was absolutely beautiful. It's the sheer arrogance of this organization that they think they can go into an interview with the richest man in the world completely unprepared."
"It's this BBC groupthink we've seen in the last decade where they just sling accusations and hope it will stick, such as calling Brexit supporters racist and fascist. The arrogance of going into an interview with Elon Musk without a shred of evidence that Elon Musk was pushing hate content. The BBC needs to stop this relentless churn of negative information about the people forced to pay for it."
It wasn't the best look, and fans are wondering if Musk will ever return for a future interview. Surely, BBC will be better prepared if he does.
Elon Musk's Interview With BBC Took A Turn When Allegations Were Made About Twitter's Content
Elon Musk would the one that was supposed to be in the hot seat, however, things took a turn and suddenly, it was James Clayton who was asked to back up his statement after he suggested that Twitter increased in negativity since Musk took over. Elon wasn't willing to accept the statement and asked that Clayton back up such an accusation.
“What hate speech are you talking about? I mean, you use Twitter. Do you see a rise in hate speech? Just a personal anecdote? I don't,” Musk said.
"Hang on a second, you said you have seen more hateful content but you can't name a single example, not even one? Then I say sir that you don't know what you are talking about... because you cannot give me a single example of hateful content, not even one tweet. You claimed that hateful content is high. That is false, you just lied," Musk said.
It was quite the moment and not the best look. Nonetheless, it doesn't appear as though BBC banned Musk from a future interview and, they'd likely love to get another kick at it. But it remains to be seen if Musk will ever agree again.
