The Real Reason Lara Pippen Is No Longer Friends With The Kardashians

As reported by People, The Real Housewives of Miami star Larsa Pippen has had a long-standing feud with her former BFF Kim Kardashian since 2020. Before the rift started, Larsa and the Kardashian family vacationed together and often enjoyed nights out together. Their lives intertwined nicely as their children spent time together.

Larsa rose to fame in 1997 after she married NBA legend Scottie Pippen. She appeared in the first season of the Bravo reality show before returning in 2021. When she returned to her Housewives roots, it was noted that her friendship with the Kardashians had fizzled out. After 2020, the two weren't seen together often, and rumors emerged that there was a rift between Larsa and Kim.

"Honestly, Kim and I are in a good place," Larsa told Entertainment Tonight in 2021, showcasing that despite their friendship breaking down, there are no hard feelings between the reality TV icons. "I love them, I love her. I wish nothing but great things for them. I feel like they wish nothing but great things for me." Despite Larsa's well wishes, fans can't help but wonder what happened between the two.

What Happened Between Lara Pippen And Kim Kardashian?

According to The Sun, The Real Housewives of Miami's Larsa Pippen explained what happened between her and the Kardashian family in an episode of The Real Housewives of Miami. In an interview, she said she felt stuck between Kim Kardashian and her ex-husband, Kanye West, and blamed him for the breakdown of their friendship.

I took a beating because I was the friend that was basically there and saw everything. And that basically was the demise of our relationship.

The two women had been close for many years, but the Keeping Up With The Kardashian star unfollowed Larsa when Kanye mentioned her in a July 2020 social media rant. "I just feel like Kanye was in a place where he really didn’t trust anyone with Kim," Larsa said on Hollywood Raw podcast.

On the 2023 podcast, Larsa said she had a "different type of relationship" with Kim due to Kanye's presence. "If your husband feels threatened by my relationship with you, then I don't want to be that person."

Sources told E! News that the Kardashian family were less than impressed with Larsa's tell-all interview. The insider told the outlet that the famous family didn't trust Larsa because she was caught "talking behind their backs and it was all just too much." It's well known that the Kardashian-Jenners keep their inner circles small, where non-disclosure agreements are plentiful.

"They all think Larsa is toxic energy," the anonymous source said, even though Kim "has a soft spot for Larsa" because "they have been through a lot together."

Although Kim and Kanye divorced in 2022, she and Larsa still haven't connected or rekindled their former bond.

How Larsa Pippen Became Connected To The Kardashians

It's unclear when Larsa Pippen and Kim Kardashian specifically met, but their friendship was already strong by the time Kim joined her sisters on Kourtney and Khloé Take Miami. Larsa made numerous appearances throughout the reality spin-off's two-season run and the third season, which was renamed Kourtney and Kim Take Miami.

During their friendship, Larsa made a range of cameos on Keeping Up With the Kardashians, going on vacation with the famous family. Lara even dissuaded Kim from her infamous 72-day marriage to NBA star Kris Humphries.

"[Kim] called me and Scottie and asked us to set her up with [Humphries] and Scottie said, 'No way.' Scottie was like, 'Nope'… and she did it anyway," Pippen explained on a Hollywood Raw podcast from November 2020.

According to People, The Real Housewife added that Kanye wanted to reconnect with Kim when she was still engaged to Kris. "Kanye saw me at a game and said, 'Hey, I wanna be with [Kim].' And I called her when she was engaged to Kris Humphries and was like, 'You can't marry Kris! You gotta be with Kanye!' Like I was there throughout the whole thing," Pippen revealed.

• The last time Larsa was seen publicly with the Kardashians was in 2019 when the entire family appeared at Larsa's 45th birthday party at Craig's, West Hollywood.
• Not long after, the pair removed any evidence of their friendship on social media, and Kim unfollowed Larsa, as noted by ScreenRant.

"If your husband feels, like, threatened by my relationship with you, then I don't want to be that person," Pippen said on a Hollywood Raw podcast. "I just kind of felt, like, do what's best for your family, you know? Like, I love you. You and I are best friends. We've been through everything together."

Years later, Larsa and Kim are both single and different places than they were during the prime of their friendship. With Larsa living in Miami and Kim in Los Angeles, it's unclear if they'll ever reconnect.

Larsa's Connection To Khloé Kardashian's Ex

Larsa Pippen revealed that she had a history with Khloe Kardashian's ex, Tristan Timpson, before Khloé started dating him.

I was kinda seeing Tristan before Khloé. Before Khloé or any of them knew he existed.

She takes credit with introducing the Canadian basketball player to the reality TV royalty. "I was seeing him, I had him come to LA, I brought him to a party Kim had. I introduced him to all of them."

Larsa added on the Hollywood Raw podcast, "Then a week later, or 10 days later, he started seeing Khloé. Which is fine, I don’t even care. It’s whatever. … I never cared that Khloé was with him after me."

Larsa Pippen has an estimated net worth of $10 million.

When her history with Tristan was revealed, Larsa faced backlash but admitted she was disappointed that the Kardashians didn't defend her. “People were DMing me or writing me on Instagram and stuff, and on Twitter, like, ‘Oh, you’re no longer friends with them because you hooked up with Tristan,'” she said.

Between Larsa's connection to both Tristan and Kanye – and airing their dirty laundry on podcasts — that it could be a major factor in why she and Kim no longer speak.

Viewers of The Real Housewives Of Miami have noticed just how much Larsa Pippen looks like her ex-BFF. Between her first appearance on the Bravo show and her comeback in 2021, fans noticed the former basketball wife was noticeably curvier and dressed very similar to Kim Kardashian.

During a heated dinner scene, her co-star Adriana told Larsa, "You left this group of women, come back with a butt as big as Kim Kardashian's, trying to become the new Kim Kardashian, which you're never going to be."

In a Real Housewives confessional, Larsa defended herself. “I’ve been Larsa for my whole life. I don’t know what she meant by that, to be honest with you," denying that she was copying her former friend.

“I’m not trying to be anybody else, except a better version of myself at this point, and I’ve been working hard on that. I’ve been focused on spending time with my kids, launching my brands and helping the charities that I love so much.”
