One of the most popular reality TV shows of the year came in the form of The Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives. The Hulu show follows a group of young Mormon mothers who make their living off of social media influencing, collectively referring to themselves as "MomTok."
The series follows the women's friendship and the moments of tension that often rise up between them. When some of the members are more traditional when it comes to their faith, while others tend to take a more progressive stance, things can become emotionally fraught and lead to major drama.
One woman from the cast who often seemed to find herself at the center of these dramatic moments was Demi Engemann, a young mother who proved to be outspoken and at times quite unapologetic about her beliefs. More recently, fans have been abuzz about Demi, as old, pre-surgery photos of her have resurfaced, and she looks very different from the way she does today.

Demi Had Major Plastic Surgery Before Her Reality TV Debut
Throughout the first season of The Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives, Demi appears confident in both her appearance and her sexuality, something which plays a part in her drama with the other women in the friend group. The 30-year-old is currently married to her husband Bret Engemann, who has been married before and is a good deal older than her.
In one scene of the show, Demi shares about a sexual encounter she and Bret had that had something to do with Fruity Pebbles cereal (though we never find out the exact details about the situation). Though it's a story that Demi shares with her friends in confidence, later her fellow castmate Whitney Leavitt presents her a gag gift of a box completely filled with the cereal, poking fun at Demi for her intimate story.

Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives' Jen Affleck Films Dance Video With Two DWTS Cast Members
The reality star sparked rumors about joining the dance competition.
Long before these feuds, this gesture from Whitney, and meeting Bret, it seems that Demi looked entirely different. In old photos from Demi's social media, she has images of herself and her first husband, Blake Corbin, to whom she was married in her early 20s.
Fans pointed out that the old pictures of Demi looked like an entirely different person, speculating that the reality TV star had since gotten major lip fillers, a nose job, and even breast implants. On top of that, Demi also appears to have altered her hair and added a fake tan to her look.
In the old photos, Demi appears fresh-faced and cheerful, often posing next to her now ex-husband. Given that the images were taken years ago and that Demi is now in her 30s, it makes sense that she would look different, though fans of the show were quick to note that not all of the changes to her appearance were natural.

Demi Has Been Open About Her Cosmetic Procedures
For her part, Demi has been nothing honest about the elective surgeries she's undergone over the past several years. In fact, she previously spoke to Page Six about how common these kinds of procedures were within her community. That is, plastic surgery was actually very common among the female members of their Mormon Church.
Demi went on to explain how normalized these cosmetic tweaks were:
That's just the Utah way. Utah’s known for having very minimal procedures done to where we still look natural.
It seems that Demi doesn't hold back when it comes to sharing details about altering her appearance. Earlier this year, she even posted a photo of herself that flaunted her new boob job, posing in a small pink bikini to show off her 385cc implants to her followers.
Demi's candid remarks about her procedures may be helping to normalize them among other communities as well. For her, she went on to explain in her same interview with Page Six that there was a mental benefit for her as well. That is, if she didn't make these alterations to her physical appearance, she noted, her thoughts would be preoccupied by thinking about how much she did want to change those things.
The reality star summed up her thoughts on the matter, explaining why it was beneficial for her:
I feel like if you just get minimal things done that just bother you, then you don't have to think about it. When you think about taking off the thought of it constantly, it's worth it all day long.
Similar to Demi, some of the other cast members from the show have also come out to say that they've opted to get plastic surgery as well. Her fellow castmate Layla, for instance, explained that she had several procedures done in the wake of her divorce. The 23-year-old shared that she'd also had a nose job and boob job, and that, on top of those, she'd also undergone a tummy tuck and gotten chin filler, lip filler, Botox — all within the span of four months.
Since the first season of the show blew up as much as it did, Hulu has since announced that it was picking up the reality TV show for an additional 20 episodes. The rumor is that the women behind MomTok are already well into filming the second season, though there's no word yet on when the next air date might be. While one of the cast members, Jennifer, may or may not be returning to the show after she and her husband Zach relocated to New York, it's been confirmed that Demi and Bret will continue to appear in the series.
Until then, fans can keep up with the circle of Mormon momfluencers on their various social media accounts (Demi alone boasts nearly half a million followers on just her Instagram account), and all previous episodes of The Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives can currently be streamed now on Hulu.
