Once upon a time, both of these iconic entertainers who currently exchange vile words against one another, actually used to have a lot of respect for one another. Drake was known to toss more than a few compliments in Kanye West's direction, and most would say that he idolized him in many ways. He shouted out his respect for West within his lyrics and also during media interviews. West was in favor of collaborating with Drake, and both seemed to have good words to say about one another. Until they didn't.
9 Drake Got Cocky
The relationship between Drake and Kanye started to get a bit rocky in 2009 and continued to be full of angst for a couple of years. Just when the dust seemed to settle between them, Drake unearthed some negative feelings after taking shots at West within his lyrics. NME quote his lyrics as being; "When I was a kid trying to figure out what I liked, it was Ye who I related to the most. He was an artist, in every sense, from his cover art to his music. Now, I would say, he is really great [pause] competitor…and friend, at the same time… My goal is to surpass everything he’s accomplished. I don’t want to be as good as Kanye, I want to be better.”
8 Tempers Flared When Drake Beefed With Pusha T
Sparks really started to fly, in 2018, when Drake started heavily feuding with Pusha T. Those two had been going head to head with one another since 2011, and when Kanye West was identified as being "team Pusha T," Drake poinnted and aimed at Kanye, making him the target of his diss wars and negative commentary.
Pusha T. released Infrared, which called out how he really felt about Drake, and then Drake responded by churning out "Duppy Freestyle," as well as "I'm Upset," which consisted of Drake unleashing his feelings about Pusha T and Kanye West.
7 Drake's Personal Life Gets Dragged
Things got really, really heated when "The Story Of Adidon" was released by Pusha T. Within this track, he fired off on Drake for hiding his son, Adonis, from the world, and he had a few choice words to share aobut the personal choices that Drake had made in his life. This raised more than a few eyebrows about how Pusha T would have obtained this information, and Drake assumed the culprit was Kanye West.

Kanye West gave fans some pure entertainment value when he posted, and then very quickly deleted, a series of text messages he shared with Drake. In spite of the fact that it was not posted for very long, fans were able to decipher the fact that there were nine people in total on the chat, and that one of them was labeled "D" and presumed to be Drake.
At the tail end of the screenshot, West added Pusha T to the conversation, then flashed a photo of Joaquin Phoenix dressed as the Joker. His caption said; “I live for this. I’ve been fucked with by nerd a** jock n****s like you my whole life. You will never recover. I promise you.”
5 Drake Keeps Dissing
Drake showed no desire to stop and continued to egg on Kanye West by collaborating with French Montana to diss Kanye's Yeezy 350 shoes. He indicates he would never be caught wearing them, and Distractify quotes him as saying; “Keeping it G, I told her don’t wear no 350s around me." This seemed to generate a response from Kanye, who went on to apologize for dissing him in his music and included an apology for throwing him under the bus with "Infrared," yet concretely denied leaking information about his son, Adonis.

In December of 2018, Kanye once again turned to social media to reveal a screenshot of a text message that Drake had sent. In Drake's tweet, he had sent in a request for clearance on "Say What's Real." He then demanded an apology from Drake saying that he wants him to say sorry for "mentioning the 350s and trying to take food out of your idol's kids mouths.” He blasted drake for being "weak," which taunted him even further.
