The Real Housewives of Potomac star Karen Huger was arrested in early 2024 for a DUI. This news came to light just before Season 9 of the Bravo show started to film.

According to Distractify, while Karen has yet to be sentenced for her DUI arrest, she was charged with several offenses, including reckless driving, driving while under the influence, driving while impaired by alcohol, driving with a suspended registration, and failure to notify the administration of a change to her address within 30 days. Karen is still requesting to have the case dismissed

In an October 2024 appearance on Watch What Happens Live, Karen admitted it was "painful" to see the crash dramatized on RHOP, especially because the show falsely claimed she hit a deer.

The Real Housewives of Potomac star Karen Huger was arrested and pulled over by the police on Mar. 19, 2024, on her way home from dinner.

  • The reality TV star was charged with negligent driving, endangering property, life, and person, and reckless driving of a vehicle.

TMZ learned that Karen struck a median and a crosswalk sign at an intersection and carried on driving until she ran into a parking sign located off the street. Thankfully, no one was injured. She made a statement to TMZ once the news got out.

Last night, I met a girlfriend for dinner. We talked and brought up some very emotionally sensitive topics. I was crying on my way home and saw a car heading right for me. I swerved to avoid the head-on collision, [and] hit the divider and then a tree.

At the time of the incident, the two police officers noted that Karen had two beer cans in her Maserati. Her lawyers tried to throw the case by declaring that the evidence was "obtained as a result of an illegal search and seizure.”

People reported in October 2024 that Karen filed a motion in July 2024, to "suppress statements and evidence from her DUI arrest, arguing that she incriminated herself during a custodial interrogation without having been read her Miranda rights."

Collider reported that the judge denied Karen’s motion to dismiss the DUI case. “The defendant was told she was not free to leave,” Karen’s lawyers wrote. “She was not read her Miranda warnings, indicating that the information she would provide them would be used in the filing of criminal charges against her.”

The 61-year-old reality star filed paperwork in July 2024 to “suppress statements and evidence from her DUI arrest after claiming she incriminated herself during a custodial interrogation without being read her Miranda rights.”

Karen was reminded to "understate your emotional state" before getting behind the wheel, and credited her "guardian angel" mother and her seatbelt for saving her life.

This is not Karen's first DUI, as she was arrested on a similar charge 10 years ago for also driving home intoxicated after dinner.

“I pulled over,” Karen exclusively told BOSSIP. “Technically, I wasn’t driving. I was pulled over into a parked area where you should not park. I turned off the car, and I called my husband. However, the teddy bear cops found me first, and I collected my DUI,” she said. She pleaded guilty and received probation.

  • They were filming Season 5 of RHOP when the incident happened.
  • Monique was charged with second-degree assault after her co-star filed a complaint with the District Court of Montgomery County in Maryland.
  • Monique later took legal action of her own, and Candiace also faced a second-degree assault charge. All charges were dismissed.

Ultimately, the Montgomery County court dismissed the charges due to insufficient evidence, and Michael claimed that the cameraman was looking to make money, according to People.

This was a serious situation where an employee of the production company tried to take advantage of my wife and I by making up a story to try to profit from it.

The former "House Husband" continued, "The fact that the production company appears to endorse his actions by splicing together disconnected and unrelated events in order to also profit is really scary for people in my position."
