In March 2021 it was announced that Eva Longoria would join forces with UN Women, a United Nations entity working on empowering women,  for the UN's observance of International Women’s Day 2021. The theme of the event was "Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world on the way to the Generation Equality Forum." During the event, Longoria discussed the #ActForEqual campaign she launched, which aims to accelerate gender equality.
