Every now and again, a sitcom comes along and takes over TV. Fans never know when it will happen, but when one of these massive shows drop, it takes the world by storm. Friends was a '90s powerhouse, and near the close of the 2000s, The Big Bang Theory took over.
The show did so many things right, and its unscripted moments were just as great as the scripted ones. People have learned a lot about the show's cast, but one thing they might not know is that one cast member was actually laughing in many scenes.
Let's look at the show, and the actor in question!
Which 'Big Bang Theory' Cast Member Laughed During Scenes?
September 2007 marked a momentous occasion for CBS, as The Big Bang Theory made its official debut on the network. Created by television legend Chuck Lorre, the series had a ton of hype behind it from the very beginning, and in no time at all, it turned into a powerhouse for CBS.
Starring talented performers like Kaley Cuco Jim Parsons and Johnny Galecki, The Big Bang Theory was a television sitcom geared towards those a little more interested than stereotypical family dynamics. It had an interesting enough promise to lure people in from the very beginning, and over the course of its dynamic run, it was able to do a number of different things well.
For 12 seasons and nearly 280 episodes, The Big Bang Theory was one of the most popular shows on television. Some people might have thought it wouldn't have lasted that long, but sure enough, Chuck Lorre worked his magic once again. Once it was all said and done, the legacy that the show left behind was immeasurable, and few shows of its era come remotely close to stacking up to it.
While the show did many things right, it also had a number of errors that people were quick to point out during its legendary run on television.
The Series Has Some Blunders
There is not a single project out there that is free of error, and this certainly applies to The Big Bang Theory. The key difference here is that this show ran for so long and has been re-watched so many times, that many errors have been pointed out through the years.
One of the biggest repeat errors is Sheldon's girlfriend clause.
According to Looper, "A "girlfriend clause" is explored in the 2008 episode "The Vartabedian Conundrum." Per Sheldon's legalese, any relevant woman is considered to be cohabiting with Leonard (and thus Sheldon) and is subject to all the rules and costs of such if she stays over for 10 straight nights, more than nine total nights over three weeks, plus all the weekends of a month, plus three weekdays."
The site notes, however, that the rule is broken a ton of times, and there is little repercussion for it. This one has more to do with the writing end of things, but believe us when we say that errors stemming from other aspects of the show were present, as well.
There are, of course, plenty of other errors and mistakes that made their way into the final cut of each episode. One such mistake involved a cast member legitimately laughing during scenes.
Who Got Caught Laughing?
So, which actor from the show got busted laughing in scenes? Turns out, it was none other than Johnny Galecki who was busted actually laughing more than a few times.
Fast-forward to 2:48 in during the video above to see what we're talking about!
Now, many of these moments are reserved for bloopers.
In one instance highlighted by ScreenRant, "In the 12th season, Sheldon and Amy are now married and talking about thank you notes. But after Jim Parsons (Sheldon) says his line, no one chimes in after him. The audience begins to laugh and Mayim Bialik (Amy) quietly looks off-screen and says "I don't know whose line it is," as an assistant runs on the set and gives Johnny Galecki (Leonard) his script. It was Johnny's line and he completely forgot. He laughed and cursed at himself before apologizing and redoing the scene."
However, Galecki was caught laughing many times in the final product. His face would turn red while trying to contain his laugher, but it's clear as day that the actor is actually laughing and not doing something that's scripted. It's little moments like these that helped the show become beloved by its massive fan base.
Johnny Galecki seemed to have a good time making the show, which probably made his giant paychecks even sweeter.
