It might be hard to believe, but Pete Davidson is still in his 20s at the age of 27.

Yet, despite his young age, it seems like he's been around for so long, especially thanks to 'SNL'.

The actor recently branched out, taking on a role in 'Suicide Squad'. Without a doubt, he has quite the future lined up.

Davidson himself would admit, having a net worth of $6 million seemed like a major impossibility years ago. He struggled after the loss of his father he would drop out of school. A dare to take the stage at a bowling alley changed everything for the star, from then, he decided to pursue acting and by 2013, he was appearing on MTV shows like 'Failosophy'.

His big break was on 'SNL' and a lot of that is thanks to his role in 'Trainwreck' which basically put him on the map with his peers.

However, as we'll soon realize, the audition process really wasn't an ordinary one, especially given that the boss Lorne Michaels knew very little about him.

It took a big recommendation from an 'SNL' legend to get him on the show. We'll reveal the person along with some other behind-the-scenes lesser-known facts.

Lorne Michaels Knew Very Little About Him

It is hard to forget a phone call from the man himself, Lorne Michaels. However, in Pete's case, it wasn't the most positive conversation. According to the actor alongside Seth Myers, he didn't get congratulated and was told by Michaels that he wasn't sure how to use him.

"I got a call from NBC,” Davidson said. “And it’s Lorne Michaels, and he goes ‘Hello.’ And he was like ‘I don’t what to do with you, but you got the show.’”

Davidson's reaction to the news was hilarious, "I went home and was like ‘I think I got SNL. I think [Lorne Michaels] is already mad at me too.’”

Given that Lorne knew very little about him, how did he land such a role? Especially given all the talent that the show passed on, it took praise from a major source.

Bill Hader Got Him The Role

He was barely in his 20s when the role landed on his lap. Two things played a major role, one being his part in Amy Schumer's 'Trainwreck'. The other, Bill Hader enjoying his work. Davidson discussed their bond with Cinema Blend and how it would lead to 'SNL'.

"It was after Amy Schumer gave me a part in Trainwreck and I met Bill Hader on set and we talked and kind of hit it off. He called me a week later and said ‘Hey, I recommended you to Lorne Michaels.’ And I was like, ‘Why?’ I was just so surprised. I didn't even know that I could audition. And the fact that I got it, I just couldn't believe it."

Hader's career is certainly on Davidson wouldn't mind following, like so many others, it started with success on 'SNL' and it would lead to so many film projects. We're starting to see a similar theme with Davidson, who has so much to go in his young career.

Although he got the role with some luck, not all of his auditions were truly that easy. Davidson revealed that he completely bombed one in particular and it was for a certain role on 'SNL'.

Not All Of Pete's 'SNL' Auditions Went Well

According to Esquire, prior to season 42, Michaels held auditions for the role of Donald Trump, he took a look at everyone for the role, and that included a young Pete Davidson. We know Pete isn't a fan of Trump's and in truth, it turns out he can't portray him very well either.

"It was bad," Davidson told Variety. "First of all, I’m 10 pounds, so I looked insane. They made us all get dressed up and tanned up. I sounded like Thunderlips from Rocky III... It was a nightmare. If I could get my hands on this tape, it’s embarrassing."

Needless to say, Davidson wasn't impressed with Donald's cameo on the show either.

"It wasn’t the most fun week ever," Davidson said. "He doesn’t get jokes. He doesn’t get tone. He doesn’t get punch lines. He’ll say words differently. He’s just a dweeb."

The experience and audition didn't work out but we can safely say that Pete isn't losing sleep over it given the way his career is going at the moment.
