There’s a huge demand for change and more inclusivity, especially in the entertainment business. For years, shows and movies have catered to only white, straight characters and people are demanding more inclusive content for all races and gender identities. The TLC network seems to have their finger on the pulse when it comes to representing marginalized and often misunderstood voices. Among the several new shows airing in the month of July is TLC’s highly anticipated series My Pregnant Husband.

Shedding A Light On Transgender People

Every year in June, the LGBTQ community holds events that celebrate being gay, lesbian or in between. While there were celebratory moments during this year’s Pride Month, there was also a major call for social reform. LGBTQ activists and persons have both spoken about the injustices done to their community, especially in relation to Transgender men and women. An increase of murders involving not only Transgender people but those of color have transpired over the last few weeks in light of the BLM protests.

It seems that TLC is making an effort to not only amplify the voices of these marginalized individuals, but to educate the public on what every day life is like for a Transgender person. TLC’s new show My Pregnant Husband even exposes the public to another side of being a Transgender Person, whereas not only have these individuals successfully completed their transition but also are giving birth. In the trailer, producers will follow the lives of two Transgender men, Myles and Ari, on their pregnancy journey. It’s a refreshing take on transgender relationships, and it's progressive with the times. Hopefully this show will help people have a better understanding of the community.
