Tom Cruise’s relationship with his daughter Suri seems to have reached a breaking point. The actor skipped a massive milestone, and his daughter seems to have responded in kind.
The 18-year-old he shares with Katie Holmes graduated from high school on Friday, and Tom Cruise wasn't there to celebrate that monumentally important moment. She didn’t seem too upset by her father’s absence, however. In fact, in her graduation pamphlet, she was listed as Suri Noelle, dropping Tom Cruise’s last name.
Whether it will be like with Shiloh Jolie, who legally changed her name to drop Brad Pitt’s as soon as she turned 18, or she will just socially stop using it remains to be seen, but for now, the teen is apparently more comfortable not using her father’s last name.
Tom Cruise is filming in London at the moment, and that might have been a good explanation for why he missed his daughter’s graduation in New York. But he can’t claim that he couldn’t tell time off anymore, as he was seen enjoying himself at Taylor Swift’s Eras tour concert at Wembley Stadium.
Only time will tell if he will be able to repair his relationship with Suri, and if they both are even interested in that.

Tom Cruise and Suri's relationship has been strained for a long time, so the latest turn of events is sad but not unexpected.
The Mission: Impossible star has not been a very involved parent for several years, many sources have confirmed, despite contributing financially since he and Katie Holmes divorced, and apparently it has weighed on his conscience.
Most recently, he missed Suri's 18th birthday, and a source shared that "Tom is feeling guilty about missing so much of her life." However, the source denied that he abandoned his daughter, and said that the actor "insists that he hasn’t completely shut Suri out of his life, and does get updates from time to time."
Apparently, now that she's 18 and his financial responsibilities, along with the custody agreement, are over, Tom Cruise is confident their relationship will improve gradually.
An insider claimed that the actor "feels she's old enough to make her own choices" and "wants to reach out and build a better relationship with her".
Of course, if that's true, it will take a lot of effort, as it looks as if their relationship is almost non-existent, but it's good that he hasn't lost hope.
