Tom Hiddleston has enjoyed being Loki, but he believes that period of his life is complete, or nearly so.

Hiddleston has been Loki for more than a decade, appearing in more than half a dozen movies, two seasons of a TV series, and even episodes of The Simpsons. His portrayal of the Marvel character has been a hit with audiences, and he's a fan favorite.

While Hiddleston may be ready to move on to other roles, and he's giving his fans a warning, it's not quite clear if the Marvel empire is done with him. Still, when he was asked about continuing to portray Loki in future movies, he explained why he thinks that era is coming to a close.

Hidddleston recently explained that he's been doing this role for 14 years now, telling Jimmy Fallon, "It’s the conclusion to Seasons One and Two, and it’s also the conclusion to six films and 12 episodes and 14 years of my life...I was 29 when I was cast, I’m 42 now," according to Esquire.

He said that the Season 2 finale of the television series explored his character's journey from villain to hero, and that the episode has "echoes and resonances of every version of Loki" he's played, exploring deep themes including free will, and an individual's ability to make conscious choices about who he wants to be and the direction of his own life.

At the same time, Hiddleston admits that he's said goodbye to the character at least twice before, and each time he's found himself back in the role again. He even took a break between seasons 1 and 2 of the Disney show to work on a variety of other projects.

Hiddleston may think he's done being Loki, but he admitted that this is "not conclusive," according to ComicBookMovie.

He also hinted that he wouldn't be entirely opposed to a reunion between his Loki and Chris Hemsworth's Thor character at some point in the future, saying, "I think both Thor and Loki have had to excavate and analyze the past and who they feel they really are and what they really want...And so yeah, I think I wonder what a reunion would likely be. We'll see."

The two are reportedly best friends off-screen, too, so there is plenty of chemistry.

Executive producer Kevin Wright seems to think that a third season, or even further movies featuring Hiddleston as Loki, could be in the future, though he admits there's nothing official happening, and emphasizes that he's expressing his own opinion, not a Marvel announcement, according to Inside The Magic.

"I speak for myself and not Marvel," he said, "But I am certainly pitching ideas of where I could see certain stories going."

He also believes that Hiddleston would be willing to return for more. Wright explained, "I would love to see more stories with Loki, and I think Tom would continue to play this character...I would love to keep working with these filmmakers."
