Travis Barker and Kourtney Kardashian are maintaining a low-key lifestyle with their newborn son, Rocky, but his ex-wife Shanna Moakler isn’t stopping her vocalness about how their relationship has made co-parenting difficult.
During a recent appearance on SiriusXM’s “Jeff Lewis Live,” Shanna, opened up about her past struggles with comparing herself to her ex-husband in terms of their parenting skills.
Why Shanna Can’t Compete With Her Ex Travis
"I gave up, I was never really trying to compete. I gave that up a long time ago," she confessed. "I was like, 'You win. Like, you’re the winner.'" Shanna further explained that Travis is "a very powerful, famous person," making it "hard to compete on that level."
The former couple, who were married from 2004 to 2008, share two children: daughter Alabama, 18, and son Landon, 20. Additionally, the Blink-182 drummer has always been a father figure to her eldest daughter, Atiana De La Hoya, from her previous relationship with Oscar De La Hoya.
Despite Shanna's history of making critical remarks about Travis and his new wife, Kourtney Kardashian, she expressed her genuine happiness for the couple following the birth of their son Rocky in November 2023.
"He’s in a good place, the kids love the new baby, my daughter’s obsessed with him and sends me cute pictures," she shared.
Shanna Has Accused Travis Of Parental Alienation
Though Shanna may have somewhat kinder words for Travis and Kourtney nowadays, she’s directly blamed them in the past for putting tension between her and her kids. In January, she opened up about her ex’s vices while also accusing him of parental alientaiton in a podcast interview on Bunnie XO’s Dumb Blonde.
“His drinking is a problem. His womanizing, his addiction,” Shanna she stated, reminiscing about when she believed they were “twin flames.”
Shanna also did not hold back her feelings about Travis Barker’s current in-laws, the Kardashians. “F–k you, that family. You’re disgusting. I removed myself so that they couldn’t bond with my children over hating me,” she declared.
She expressed her unwavering love for her children despite the family drama, saying, “Go do what you guys need to do and when you’re ready, I will be here loving you unconditionally. And I will be here as your mother, and I will wait. And that’s what I did.”
Frustrated with public criticism, she added, “I’m tired of people s–tting on me. There are people that don’t like that family, don’t watch their f–king show and don’t give a f–k what Kim [Kardashian] is doing with her ass.”
Later in the podcast, Shanna accused Travis of engaging in parental alienation, explaining that when he began his relationship with Kourtney Kardashian, he tried to position himself as the “super dad,” even when they were not together.
Shanna candidly admitted that she cannot offer the same luxurious lifestyle as the Kardashians, which she believes is why her children are more drawn to their father. “‘I’m the best parent. I’m the this and that, and I’m like, ‘bro, you win.’ Like, you’re the winner here. You have all the money and you have all this. You’re the winner,” she continued, emphasizing the disparity between their situations.
