Travis Scott has been routinely criticized for hosting dangerous performances and he’s still facing billions of dollars in damages in lawsuits over the fatal Astroworld tragedy. But that didn’t stop the rapper from taking his daughter, Stormi, 5, on stage during a recent performance.
Travis is currently on his Circus Maximus Tour, and during his Sunday night performance in Los Angeles, held at the SoFi Stadium, he brought a special guest on stage with him.
Videos from the performance show Travis taking his 5-year old daughter on a head-shaped podium that was suspended over the main stage. Stormi held on to her dad’s hand tightly, while she also seemed strapped in tightly. The child seemed nervous at first, but could eventually be seen bopping to the music as Travis performed his hit “Mafia” for the excited crowd.
Travis Has A History Of Dangerous Performances
This was a history-making performance, and not only because of Stormi’s appearance. Travis became the first rapper to headline and sell out the SoFi Stadium. That night, he broke a record for merchandise sales, as his tour has sold over $3.8 million in merch so far.
Moreover, he’s also sold over half a million tickets, grossing $80 million in sales. The Circus Maximus tour will run until December 29.
The success of Travis’ current concert may come as a surprise to some, given his history of problematic performances. Multiple Travis Scott concerts have been shut down due to safety concerns, or even cancelled ahead of time due to his reputation. Clearly, however, that isn’t stopped fans from attending his shows – or keeping his ex Kylie Jenner from allowing their daughter to be a part of performances.
While Travis may be making bank with his current tour, he’s still on the hook for significant damages following the Astroworld tragedy, which marks his most infamous performance.
In 2021, the rapper’s annual music festival (which he founded and held in his hometown of Houston, Texas) got out of hand when the crowd began surging. Hundreds of people were injured and more than a dozen people died, including children, following the event.
Multiple lawsuits were filed in response, which name Travis as well as other organizers of the music festival, which was accused of not having enough safety protocols to prevent the tragedy.
Travis Is Facing Billions In Damages For The Astroworld Tragedy
In January, it was reported that all Travis is facing over $10 billion in potential damages from all of the lawsuits combined.
For example, personal injury attorney Thomas J. Henry publicly claimed that his firm is seeking $2 billion in damages for their clients, while another personal injury firm, Brent Coon & Associates, claims their lawsuits are fighting for $10 billion in damages.
Both Travis and Kylie issued apologies following the Astroworld tragedy, and Travis has maintained his innocence, event defending the fact that he continued performing while the crowd surge was taking place. The rapper claims he wasn’t aware of the severity of the situation until after he’d left the stage.
