Marvel Twitter is trying to set the record straight on a crucial debate: who would win in a fight between the Avengers and the X-Men?
Not that the two Marvel fictional teams of superheroes need an introduction. To put it simply, the X-Men, originally appeared in a series of comic books created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, are a paramilitary group of mutants that fights for peace and equality between normal humans and mutants. The Avengers, on the other hand, are an all-star ensemble cast of established superhero characters from the Marvel Comics portfolio. It's safe to say a fight between the two teams would be nothing short of epic.
Twitter Debates On Avengers And X-Men
The conversation is mainly using the movies as reference, leaving the comics behind. In the comics, most recently in 2012's Avengers vs. X-Men, the two groups did fight each other. Those in the know seem to lean towards the X-Men taking the biscuit.
"People are using the Movies as a basis, but in the Comics, The X-men would, AND have WASHED the Avengers before. Not only is Magneto, Prof.X, Jean Gray, AND Iceman there, but the Avengers have too many "I's" in their team But a big factor boils to Scarlett Witch Vs. Phoenix," one fan tweeted.
"Why waste time arguing over who would win in a fight between the Avengers and X-Men when you could read Trial of Magneto and see Magneto kick their asses," another fan wrote, including pictures from the comics.
"Anyway X-Men are like 5x better than every Avengers roster," was another comment.
"Crazy how the X-men are still the best Marvel team, and how much better they are in literally every single way compared to the Avengers," another person wrote.
Avengers Are The Popular Guys, X-Men Are The Underdogs
It looks like the X-Men have a larger fan base within the fandom. Could it be because they are Marvel's underdogs compared to the big egos in the Avengers, like one fan suggested?
"Avengers are the jocks, cheerleaders, and preps. X-men are the goths and the gays smoking under the bleachers," they wrote, and we can see it.
Finally, one pacifist fan wants the two groups to team up and "be friends".
"Stop these X-Men vs Avengers debates and let them be friends."
It wouldn't make a spectacular adventure though, at least until a major baddie comes along.
