In his book of revelations titled So That Happened: A Memoir Cryer depicts many instances in which he reached out to Sheen in moments of publicly broadcasted issues. Each time Cryer would send a text of concern, offering aid, Sheen would crack a joke and wave off the efforts.

According to People, there were moments of awkwardness when Sheen's clarity on life began to dwindle. Cryer recalls an instance in which Sheen couldn't complete his lines, or move around on set, so he held onto the side of the couch in clear mental and physical distress. Cryer would often nudge him, encourage him to focus, and help him run through his lines. Shockingly, Sheen would snap back to life and execute his lines flawlessly.
