At one point, there was no sitcom that even came close to 'Two and a Half Men'. In truth, had things not turned south between Charlie Sheen and Chuck Lorre, the show might still be airing new episodes till this very day.
Charlie's departure hurt the show, and in addition, Angus T. Jones parting ways didn't help things either.
According to Sheen, the reason for the departures has a lot to do with what he thinks is a so-called curse on the show.
Sheen makes mention that the show was hurt by the loss of certain cast members, and it was all because of this mystery curse - though he does link a certain someone behind the curse itself. It isn't too hard to figure out who he's referring to...
In addition, we'll take a look at his current feelings about the show, clearly, times have changed.
It All Started With The Angus T. Jones Rant
According to Charlie Sheen, Angus going off the rails was highly unlikely, especially during his time on the show.
Jones ended up leaving the show, making some bold statements as to why he left. According to the actor, his new religious beliefs made him look at the show differently.
“Stop filling your head with filth.” Jones, then 19 years old and one of the highest-paid teen actors in history, continued: “You cannot be a true God-fearing person and be on a television show like [‘Two and a Half Men’]. I know I can’t,” he said. “I’m not okay with what I’m learning, what the Bible says, and being on that television show.”
According to the former sitcom star, he was a hypocrite for having these beliefs, while still getting paid by the show. Ultimately, the comments were deemed very harsh given his lengthy run on the program. In fact, he would issue another statement, hoping he didn't offend the show's creator, "that’s his, like, his baby, and I just totally insulted his baby and to that degree I am apologetic,” Jones explained. “But otherwise I don’t regret saying what I said.”
According to Sheen, Angus' outburst was all part of a curse that was put on the show.
Sheen Called The Show Cursed For Jones' Behavior
According to Charlie Sheen, Angus going on his rant had something to do with a certain curse that revolves are the beloved sitcom.
''With Angus's Hale-Bopp-like meltdown, it is radically clear to me that the show is cursed," Sheen told People.
At the time, Sheen blamed the child star's spiral on the creator of the show, likely due to the fact that the two were feuding at the time.
"Obviously, not having been there for some time, the Angus T. Jones that I knew and still love is not the same guy I saw on YouTube yesterday," he told TMZ, adding, "I dare anyone to spend 10 years in the laugh-track that is Chuck Lorre's hive of oppression and not suffer some form of an emotional tsunami."
The two would end up leaving the show and in fact, Angus left the business altogether, opting for a quiet life away from the spotlight.
Perhaps Charlie's words pertaining to the curse had a lot to do with his feeling during that given moment.
According to Sheen these days, he does have a bit of regret with the way he handled some issues. These days, the sitcom star has a different outlook.
Charlie Has Regrets Looking Back
Charlie is a changed man nowadays and surely, his sobriety is a big reason for it. Charlie has a different outlook on his time on the show these days, looking at it with nothing but gratitude.
"People have [said to] me, 'Hey, man, that was so cool, that was so fun to watch.”
“That was so cool to be a part of and support and all that energy and, you know, we stuck it to the man. My thought behind that is, 'Oh, yeah, great. I'm so glad that I traded early retirement for a [expletive] hashtag."
Perhaps had the star handled things differently, the show would still be on today. At the very least, he is taking accountability for his actions in the past, "There was 55 different ways for me to handle that situation, and I chose number 56.”
“And so, you know, I think the growth for me post-meltdown or melt forward or melt somewhere — however you want to label it — it has to start with absolute ownership of my role in all of it."
Who knows, maybe the curse has come to an end and the show is given a reboot in the future?
