Bravo Shocks Vanderpump Rules Fans With Season 12 Cast Reboot

After a lengthy "production pause" and an extended hiatus, Bravo dropped some major news about Vanderpump Rules Season 12 — starting with an all-new cast.

Fans of the reality TV show are aware that Vanderpump Rules has been "in limbo" for quite some time, and in that interval, the original cast has been in the news pretty much constantly.

One day prior to Bravo's shock shake-up announcement, Tom Schwartz announced that Schwartz And Sandy's, the bar he opened with co-star Tom Sandoval in November 2022, was closing its doors at the end of the year. Everyone blamed Tom Sandoval, by the way.

Over the summer, myriad developments involving Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright unfolded, with Jax checking in to an inpatient facility, and Brittany filing for divorce.

Dynamics have changed among the Vanderpump Rules cast on many levels, and fans weren't sure when or if VPR would return — until Bravo dropped a bombshell on Tuesday (November 26).

Who Is VPR's All-New Cast For Season 12?

On November 26, Bravo issued a sparse press release confirming Season 12 of Vanderpump Rules, and it was curiously light on details.

Although the rebooting of the VPR cast was a main focus of both the press release and Bravo's "The Daily Dish" article about it, detail were scant, and Bravo was coy:

"Under Lisa Vanderpump’s watchful eye, the West Hollywood mainstay SUR – and now TomTom – welcomes the next batch of servers, hosts and bartenders rife with plenty of drama, situationships and frenemies."

Bravo was almost suspiciously quiet on details, and their announcement was giving hasty — VPR Executive Producer Alex Baskin was quoted as saying:

"What a thrill it is to build on the legacy of this series by doing it all over again. With profound appreciation for the original group and their iconic run, we can’t wait for the audience to see a dynamic new group of co-workers and friends make their way through life together."

Lisa provided a quote for the announcement, too ... and again, the tone of what she said was odd.

In it, Lisa addressed and thanked the original Vanderpump Rules cast, in the same way someone might talk to a person they're pushing out of a door:

"The last 12 years of filming have been an extraordinary run full of laughter, tears and everything in between. I can’t thank enough those who have shared their lives.

"How I love you all. In the restaurant business, one shift always gives way to another. Cheers to the next generation of Vanderpump Rules."

The press release vaguely referenced a planned, 11-season "retrospective" in a noncommittal fashion, making it unclear if the old cast would participate in it — intensifying the impression this announcement might be a surprise to those cast members.

According to Bravo, Season 12 of Vanderpump Rules and the debut of the new cast "is set to begin production" in 2025, and the "premiere date and cast will be announced at a later date."
