Actress Jennifer Garner and actor Ben Affleck were married from 2005 to 2018. The former couple first met on the set of Pearl Harbor but did not begin their relationship until four years later. After starring together in 2003’s Daredevil, the two deepened their relationship and got married in June 2005. They welcomed their first child, a daughter named Violet Anne, in December of that same year.
Their marriage produced two more children after Violet, who turned 18 at the end of 2023; after Fin (formerly Seraphina) was born, Ben even changed his approach to acting. Unfortunately, the Hollywood couple decided to go their separate ways in 2015; Ben and Jennifer finalized their divorce in 2018.
Here is everything that Jennifer Garner has recently shared about her oldest daughter Violet, including whether she plans to go to college!

Jennifer Garner Has Asked Her Daughter Violet For Acting Advice
Jennifer Garner asked her daughter Violer Garner for acting advice before playing a teenager in a Netflix comedy
Although Jennifer Garner has decades of experience as an actress under her belt, she still turns to those around her for advice when she needs it. For one comedy film, she decided to turn to her oldest daughter, Violet, and the rest of her children, for advice, even though they do not have any acting experience themselves.
In December 2023, Jennifer Garner's new movie Family Switch became available to stream on Netflix. The award-winning actress plays a teenager in the Netflix comedy. To prepare for the role, Jennifer Garner revealed that she asked her children "a bunch of questions" to prepare for the role.
"You're turning the volume up so much because it's all so exaggerated," Garner said of the role at the Los Angeles premiere of the film. "But yes, I definitely went to my teens and asked a bunch of questions. They were all like, 'Mom, you're crazy.'"
At the time of the interview, her daughter Violet Anne Garner was 17, her daughter Seraphina Rose was 13, and her son Samuel Garner was 11. Although Samuel was not yet a teenager when the movie became available to stream, it appears he still gave her some good advice, as one critic described Family Switch as "a lot of fun."

Jennifer Garner Says Violet Is Both Funny And Smart
Jennifer Garner says that the "teenage antics" of her children are all very "G-rated"
The 13 Going On 30 actress tries to lead a private life and keep her children out of the spotlight, even though Jennifer Garner might mention her children in an Instagram promotion or two. Over the years, Jennifer Garner has said that she does not "see anything positive" from posting her children on social media, especially when teaming up with Halle Berry to ban paparazzi photos of celebrity children in 2013.
At the Family Switch premiere in Los Angeles, Jennifer said that her kids are very well-behaved, explaining, "My kids are funny and they're smart, and they work really hard. And their teenage antics are at the very lowest, G-rated level, so I’m doing okay."
Although she has never body swapped with her own children, as her character does in the Netflix comedy, the Valentine's Day actress revealed that she would not like to relive her teenage years and all the stress that comes with it, especially when it comes to college planning.

Violet Garner Wants A College Degree
Jennifer Garner has talked about touring colleges with her daughter
Even though Jennifer Garner tries to keep her three children out of the spotlight, the West Virginia native knows that many still expect a lot of her children due to their famous last name.
"You know what? I think my kids work so hard, and they have so much pressure on them that I could never even have imagined as a teenager myself," Garner also told the publication at the movie premiere. "I’ll stay right here in my old lady body, thank you very much."
Part of the reason she wants to stay in her "old lady body" is to avoid repeating some teenage milestones, like touring colleges. At the time of the movie premiere, Garner admitted that it hadn't "really sunk in" that her daughter Violet would be going to college.
Jennifer Garner admitted that she did "have moments where it hits me" but went on to say that, "So far, I'm just excited for her."
That is not the only time that The Adam Project actress has spoken about Violet's college plans. During a 2023 appearance on Live with Kelly and Mark, Jennifer Garner explained that she could "see the stress" that Violet was under leaving home for the first time. However, she assured her fans that her oldest daughter was "handling it like a champ" and was "totally in charge" of planning her college experience.
The actress also assured everyone that she would be "proud" of her daughter no matter what school she chose to attend. However, in order to protect her oldest daughter's privacy, she declined to disclose what school Violet planned to enroll in.
