Katie Maloney and Tom Schwartz's roller coaster relationship has played out on Bravo's Vanderpump Rules since the show first aired in 2013. Sadly, the VPR scenes that stick out the most to fans are not so good ones between this former couple, like the time Tom dumped his drink on Katie's head while in Mexico back in Season 2, and later, accusations that Tom was unfaithful.
The couple ultimately divorced in 2022 after 12 years together, and it appeared to be the right call for both stars. They are on friendly terms today and even co-parent their two dogs. However, as time heals all wounds, Katie looked back on her marriage to Tom and admitted that there were a lot of red flags she had missed.

Katie Maloney Had To "Push" Tom Schwartz Into Making Serious Commitments
Katie Maloney looked back on her marriage to Tom Schwartz and admitted that there was a lot of personal growth missing when it came to her husband. Reflecting on their marriage with Anna Kai on her Brutally Honest Anna podcast (the pair wed in 2016 on an episode of Vanderpump Rules, but it wasn't legal until 2019), Katie spoke openly about how she ultimately made the tough decision to get a divorce.
"I think once that little voice starts to creep up in your head, maybe it's not like I want to get divorced but like, hey, maybe this isn't the life and the future and everything that you wanted," Katie stated.
"I normalized bad behavior and treatment that I just didn't deserve."
Although Katie shared with the host that Tom shouldn't get all the blame for their marriage fallout, calling herself "difficult," she did state that she realized she was with someone who "didn't know how to be a partner." It also wasn't until Katie let go of her insecurities and found confidence in herself that she finally realized that she and Tom were not the perfect match.
"There was a lot of hurt that was built up. He cheated on me in the past—and so there were things I hadn't healed from that were definitely on me and affected my feelings towards him ... I was still very much in love with this person and wanted to be with them, but they just didn't know how," Katie said.
Additionally, Katie touched upon other reasons why she and Tom were just not made to live the rest of their lives together. The reality star told Anna that Tom hadn't exactly changed since she married him. It was a major red flag for the VPR star because she wanted to grow with her ex and she felt that she had to constantly push him into making serious commitments.
"A lot of times, I think he is still the same person that I married. And that person is wonderful. But that person, I also fell in love with when I was 25 years old," she shared.
Katie continued, "I’ve grown a lot. I feel like I really had to drag him through a lot of phases in life … committing, moving in together, getting engaged, getting married, talking about having kids. All of those things … I don’t know why I did that. He was just so unsure."
Katie's divorce was not easy, so when Anna asked her if she could see herself getting married again, the reality star admitted, "If it means not having to get divorced again, then I will avoid marriage." She futher explained, "But if I met someone and I fell in love and they were like, ‘I really want marriage. That is super important to me,' then I would do it for them. But for myself? No.'"

Where Do Katie And Tom Stand Today?
Katie and Tom stayed in one another's lives after their divorce, although that had a lot to do with co-starring together on Vanderpump Rules. However, Katie shared on Anna's podcast that she always wanted to maintain some sort of relationship with someone she's spent so many years with. Katie believed it was "sad" when former couples turned into "strangers."
"With Tom and I, our problem was never our friendship. We had a great friendship. It was when I needed him to step up as a partner, that's where he struggled the most."
She continued, "So when we broke up, there was no longer that pressure on him or and I or on this marriage… We just kind of have been able to have this fun banter and talk. That fun little part of what we had is still there, even though it’s not romantic."
Katie and Tom are co-parenting their two pups, Butter and Gordo, who regularly make appearances on Vanderpump Rules.
Tom expressed the same feelings towards his ex-wife. Back in July 2022, he famously called him and Katie "some of the best divorcees ever" while speaking to Entertainment Tonight. "We still have an incredible friendship. It was rough in the beginning ... but we still have a great bond, we still text, talk, we have joint custody of the dogs."
In a more updated status about their relationship in January, Tom shared with People that they continued to be in a good place. "I feel like we've been through some rough moments in our post-divorce relationship. I feel like we always handle it with decorum—for the most part."

The Real Reason Vanderpump Rules' Rachel 'Raquel' Leviss Is Walking Away From Her Podcast
The former VPR star is moving away from the reality TV show that labeled her a villain and focusing on a new chapter in her life.
Both Katie And Tom Are Dating New People
On Katie's Disrespectfully podcast in October, she revealed that she was "in love" with someone. Katie kept her new romantic partner a mystery to her listeners, but it didn't take long for internet sleuths to figure out it was Sleeping With Sirens musician Nick Martin.
Despite some troubling allegations pointed at Nick by an ex-girlfriend, the two appear to still be going strong and continue to keep their relationship on the down low. On the same podcast episode, Katie shared that they were in a long-distance romance because of Nick's schedule, but she regularly visited him.
"Just being able to spend some quality time and just be around him was just really necessary. I had a really good time," she shared.
As for Tom, People reported that he had been dating his girlfriend Sophia Skoro since the end of 2023. The couple have a very large age gap—18 years to be exact—but that does not seem to affect them.
Speaking to Access Hollywood about their relationship in April, Tom said, "She's just really effing cool! She's charismatic and clever and kind of unconventionally funny. She's way cooler than me." Tom also told the outlet that Sophia has even met most of his friends and Vanderpump Rules' castmates like Scheana Shay and Jax Taylor.
"She gets along great with everybody. That's one of my favorite things about her. I introduce her to people, and she's so genuine and instantly makes a connection with people. She's very gregarious," Tom shared. The two initally met at the reality TV star's bar, TomTom.
