Howard Stern is absolutely in love with his wife Beth. Anyone who listens to The Stern Show on SiriusXM knows that the self-proclaimed King of All Media and the former friend turned enemy of Donald Trump is a hopeless romantic and dedicated to monogamy. Stern is also dedicated to Beth's charitable endeavors which has also garnered support from the likes of Taylor Swift.
But Stern also encourages Beth to come clean on the air about her various issues, whether she would have done so on her own or not. This includes her shocking addiction which has now led to a rather troublesome medical issue...
Did Howard Stern Pressure His Wife To Publicly Reveal Her Medical Issues?
Being married to Howard Stern has its perks. There's no doubt about that. For one, the radio legend is outlandishly rich, is friends with numerous celebrities, and has a very giving heart; after all he gives a ton of money and time to animal charities. But it also means having a lot of dirty laundry aired on his radio show.
While he's more guarded about his personal life nowadays, Stern has never shied away from revealing gritty details of his life to his radio audience. And this includes what his loved ones are going through. In June 2023, this included his wife Beth's health problems.
"Oh my god, my wife is in a panic," Howard Stern revealed on his June 19th, 2023 episode of his acclaimed radio show. "I got to get permission if I can tell you about her blood test. We had blood tests. Mine was good. I'm doing well. But Beth had a little issue and she's freaking out."
"What is her issue?" longtime co-host Robin Quivers asked her colleague live on air.
Stern then called Beth and asked her to come down to his home studio and address her health issues in front of his massive audience.
"[Beth is] coming down," Stern said to Quivers. "She's been upset with me lately. She says I haven't been good to her on the air lately."
Stern then added that Beth asked him not to say anything about her "medical issue" on the air.
"And I go, 'Oh, I'm telling everyone. I'm telling everyone. I don't care.' She said, 'You can't do that'. I said, 'I can and I will'," Stern joked. "But I really don't want to do it without her."
While Howard Stern may have coaxed his wife Beth Stern into coming clean about her issues while in private, he absolutely did not reveal her personal information without her permission. In fact, Beth did it herself. Perhaps to shed light on a very common disease that many around the world suffer from...
What Is Beth Stern's Disease?
At the time of this writing, Beth Stern has not been formally diagnosed with any disease. But she did reveal on The Howard Stern Show that she has become pre-diabetic. This isn't exactly a surprise to many fans who know all about Beth's addiction to sugar. It's something that has been discussed at length on the show. Beth has also publicly come clean about a breast cancer scare that thankfully turned out to be nothing.
Back in March 2023, Stern told his audience, "Beth's got a real problem -- She's a sugar addict. And when I say 'a sugar addict' I don't mean like -- it gets out of control."
Howard Stern claimed that Beth constantly eats sugary foods, including Peeps, even out of the garbage. She's also become exceedingly picky about which healthy foods she'll consume. Unfortunately, this self-proclaimed "addiction" has caused Beth to have a rather troublesome health issue. Following a routine blood test, it was revealed that she is officially pre-diabetic.
After Beth Stern asked Robin Quivers if Howard had "tattled" on her, she came clean...
"I'm officially pre-diabetic."
"[For dinner I have] pancakes, pasta, pizza, burritos, vegetarian tacos," Beth began to list before stating that she doesn't even eat meat anymore.
"No protein," Stern cut in.
"Sometimes I'll have an egg sandwich," Beth said, correcting him. "I'm like a little kid."
"The problem is, I'm high in sugar and really low in protein."
Beth also admitted that she has an iron deficiency, so she's eating gummy bears with iron in them. But these gummy bears are loaded with sugar, exacerbating the potential problem with diabetes.
"You've got to get a nutritionist and have someone cook for you," Robin Quivers, who had her own very public health battles, advised Beth.
"Whenever I try to give Beth something healthy, she won't eat it," Howard Stern claimed. "It's like living with a junkie."
"So, Beth, you really, really, really should be taking this seriously," Quivers, a former nurse, lectured, citing some of the complications of diabetes listed by the CDC.
"You don't want to be a diabetic. Because that's cutting out all sugar. Like, say goodbye to sugar. When you have complications because your diabetes is out of control, you could kidney diseases; which leads to high blood pressure, which opens you up to strokes and heart attacks. You could have bad circulation in your lower extremities. And your feet just start to go crazy. You get wounded and you can't heal. You just don't want all of that."
"I hope you take care of yourself," Howard told Beth. "I don't want to lose you."
Stern and his colleagues then stated that they believe that Beth doesn't take the issue seriously enough because she hasn't gained any weight. Despite having a very poor diet, she has a hard time gaining weight. Because there's no visual, the underlying problems don't register with her.
While some many believe that Howard Stern coaxed his wife into talking about her medical problems on air, it's clear that he did so in order for her to really grasp the severity of her issue. She has to act now before she officially becomes a diabetic.
