Lindsay Lohan is making a big Hollywood comeback these days, 14 years after Heath Ledger's tragic death.
A year after The Dark Knight star's passing, Dina Lohan, mom of the Freaky Friday actress, claimed that her daughter "was dating Heath when he died."
His name was also on Lindsay's infamous list of men that she's slept with. Here's the truth about their relationship.
Heath Ledger Was On Lindsay Lohan's Infamous 'List'
In 2014, In Touch Weekly published a list of famous lovers allegedly written by Lindsay herself. It appeared to be a Scattergories playing card which was reportedly filled out while the actress and her friends were staying at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Some names were blurred "for legal reasons" and because it "could rock several Hollywood relationships to the core."
The list contains 36 names including Heath, Fifty Shades star Jamie Dornan, the now-married Justin Timberlake, Colin Farrell, recently accused cheater Adam Levine, Zac Efron, and James Franco who's been canceled over misconduct allegations.
Later on, Lindsay admitted that the list was the fifth step in her Alcoholics Anonymous support program. "Someone, when I was moving during the OWN [Lohan's docu-series on Oprah Winfrey's TV network] show, must have taken a photo of it," she said at that time. "That's a really personal thing and it's really unfortunate [that the list was leaked]."
Lindsay Lohan's Mom Said She Was Dating Heath Ledger Before He Died
In November 2009, 22 months after Heath's untimely death, Dina was caught in an undated, recorded phone conversation with Michael Lohan — her ex-husband and Lindsay's dad — saying that Lindsay "was dating Heath when he died." She added: "I don't know if you know that, but I know cause I would drop her off and they were friends, very, very close."
Dina even revealed that the actor's passing "f***** her [Lindsay] up." However, she admitted that she was worried about Heath's presence in her daughter's life back then. "When she's drunk or takes an Adderall with it she will do something like Heath Ledger did in a second without thinking," the mom-of-four told Michael on the taped phone call.
She even discussed Lindsay's then-relationship with Samantha Ronson. "It's very easy for a rational person to say," she said. "But for an irrational person who has a problem with her DNA and alcohol and Adderall and asthma and every other things she's got wrong with her." The Parent Trap star later slammed her dad for leaking other parts of the private call.
Heath Ledger Split With Fiancée Michelle Williams Months Before He Died
In September 2007, four months before he died of an accidental drug overdose, Heath broke up with his Brokeback Mountain co-star and then-fiancée, Michelle Williams. "Well, certainly Heath Ledger was a partier," People Senior Editor, JD Heyman said about the canceled engagement back in 2008.
He continued: "He liked to go out. He had a lifestyle that really wasn't — at least in Michelle Williams' eyes — compatible with raising a child and continuing in that relationship. Even though their relationship did not work out, she did love Heath — she loved him very much."
Heath and Michelle got engaged within months after meeting on the set of the 2004 film. They soon welcomed a daughter, Matilda in October 2005. "Our initial meeting, the circumstances of how we first met, were cosmic or something," Michelle told GQ of their whirlwind romance later in 2012. "Yeah, a lot of things happened at once. It's a bit like, we had a lot of things to do because we didn't have a lot of time, or something."
The My Week With Marilyn actress has moved on since, marrying Hamilton producer, Thomas Kail back in 2020. They also welcomed a son named Hart that same year. She's now expecting her third child, her second one with Kail. As for Lindsay, she's been engaged to Bader Shammas since November 2021.
