While morning shows are supposed to be fun and drama-free, The View is certainly not. In fact, many hosts have fought on The View. And sometimes, the show's celebrity interviews go sideways. Liam Neeson didn't love being on The View. And in 2010, the late singer Prince dropped by the set for what became an incredibly famous interview. Known for his influential music like "Little Red Corvette and "When Doves Cry," Prince wasn't always excited about talking to the press. This set him apart from other singers who thrive on living in the spotlight. He seemed to want to focus on his creative work instead.

In 2010, Prince was interviewed on The View. But instead of chatting for a long time with the hosts, he actually left pretty quickly. Was Prince offended by the comments that Sherri Shepherd made? Or was he actually okay with the situation?

Why Did Prince Leave His Interview With Sherri Shepherd On The View?

Prince was interviewed on The View in 2010 but he didn't actually stay for long. And for years since, fans have wondered how he really felt about the interview. Prince joked about being on a morning show and said "These are strange hours for rock stars." He mentioned "the wonderful series of concerts we're doing here" as he was playing at Madison Square Garden.

While The View's co-hosts were all thrilled to have Prince there since he was such a beloved figure, Sherri Shepherd was definitely the most excited. And since she was sitting right next to Prince at the famous The View table, she looked super nervous. It turns out that she is a huge fan... and she then made a comment that would get a lot of attention.

Right away, Shepherd said, “Hey Prince. Could you just say, ‘Sherri, I love you.'” He did and they hugged. That seemed like a sweet moment, but then things got incredibly awkward.

Sherri Shepherd said to Prince, "You don't understand, Prince. I have wanted to make love to you for my whole life."

After she made this comment, Prince stood up immediately. He then left the set of The View.

It's possible to say that Prince was offended by Sherri Shepherd's comment and that he didn't want to finish his interview. But it's also possible that the singer was only supposed to be on camera for a few minutes. After all, sometimes celebrities make very brief appearances when they are busy promoting something.

Before Prince left, he mentioned that he wanted to eat breakfast. It seems that he was thinking about his morning meal. When Shepherd made her comment, he took it as the perfect opportunity to leave.

This wasn't the first time that a Prince interview got people talking. According to The Mirror, he said that he would talk to Veronica Webb on the Sunday Show on the BBC in 1995. However, he didn't want to talk. And he didn't want the host to see his face or for the audience to look at him, either.

Someone came with Prince and spoke for him. When they explained that Prince said that he wasn't attractive enough to let Webb look at him, Webb said "You've got to do better than 'you're too ugly to look upon.' You get up there and shake your thing every night," Prince's companion said, "that's to cover up for his ugliness."

Prince often wanted interviews to go a certain way. Brian Boyd wrote an article for The Irish Times in 2016 and shared that the singer said to him via e-mail "Brian, I need to talk to you to explain something confidentially. Come and see me in Paris next week and hear some real music. We'll make history."

But after Boyd watched the singer perform, Prince said a few things to him that didn't make up a traditional interview. He wanted the food that he and the people traveling with him given to "a local food centre for the homeless or less fortunate." He also said that Boyd shouldn't have anything to write with or on when doing the interview, which didn't really end up happening.

What Did Sherri Shepherd And Prince Say About Shepherd's Comments On The View?

Sherri Shepherd talked about Prince on Sherri, her TV show. According to Decider.com, she said, “I was so happy. I was trying to act cool but I couldn’t help it. You got that one person who is in front of you and you will never see them again. And when Prince was sitting next to me, I said to him, ‘I wanted to make love to you my entire life.'”

It doesn't sound like the former host of The View regrets what she said. Instead, it seems that she remembers the experience fondly as she appreciated meeting someone she had been a fan of for such a long time.

Did Prince say that he was offended by Sherri Shepherd? The late singer didn't give any interviews about being on The View. It's impossible to know how he really felt about the interaction.

However, many people say that Prince had an introverted personality. This could be the reason why he left The View interview. An article from The Guardian in 2016 called Prince "a shy, nonconformist, unknowable talent."

One of Prince's managers talked about Prince's personality and explained that he didn't talk much when they first met.

Gary Levinson, who became Prince's manager when the singer was 16, said, "He barely spoke. He would answer questions, 'yes' or 'no' or 'maybe.' I just thought, 'Well, this is going to take some time," according to Entertainment Tonight.

Levinson also said, "In the first two months, I was concerned that he wouldn't be able to perform because he was so shy and so introspective and quiet. But all of his friends, his friends came around from time to time, said, 'You should see him perform. He's an amazing performer.'"

While Prince didn't mention what he was thinking during his famous episode of The View, he didn't seem to relish being interviewed. And while people remember his time on The View, the legacy of his incredible music will also always live on.
