It's the gig of a lifetime! Miley Cyrus is playing the Super Bowl, but not in a way you might expect.
She won't be appearing at halftime to stomp the field like Beyonce or leap from the rafters like Lady Gaga, because The Weeknd is actually the Super Bowl's official halftime act this year. Miley's job involves an afternoon performance that kicks off the entire event.
This is big news for the singer, whose latest album 'Plastic Hearts' has underperformed on the charts so far. Here's how she showed fans that she's up for the challenge.
She Planked on the Plane
In a video posted to Miley's IG this weekend, the rockstar shares footage from her flight to Miami. She throws it back to 2009 with a casually killer rendition of 'Party In the USA,' admires her pierced manicure, and most importantly, gets her sweat on.
Miley's vid shows her planking on her forearms, dipping her legs from side to side while holding her plank position, and working her lower abs with some super slow leg lifts. She is not your typical plane passenger. Good thing she's got space to spread out, in what we can only assume is a private chartered jet.
Fitness Is Huge for Miley Right Now
Miley is a certified yogi, and is known to practise her yoga every single day. In her video from the plane, she can be seen stretching on her hands and knees in what some yogis call a 'tabletop' pose.
While Miley has been into fitness for years now, she's kicked it into a higher gear to prepare for her Super Bowl debut. She's posted two videos in the past week of herself singing while training on a treadmill, both hashtagged with 'SBLV.' If you're not into football, you might not know that stands for the 55th annual Super Bowl event happening tomorrow. No shame!
All Ready for 'TikTok Tailgate'
Even though she's training like an athlete, she's not actually going to be sweating beside Tom Brady tomorrow. At the end of the video Miley explains her Super Bowl role in more detail.
"I'll be there for TikTok Tailgate," she says, describing her pre-game event. "I cannot wait to put on a show for the NFL's honored guests before the game, healthcare workers from Tampa and around the country." So sweet!
