TLC's 'Welcome To Plathville' was back for yet another episode tonight, and things are heating up in Cairo, Georgia. As Moriah navigates her new "friendship" with her ex-boyfriend, Max, things got quite awkward when she brought him over to meet Plath parents, Kim and Barry. This was quite the moment for Moriah, considering she had never brought a boy over to the family home before, sparking a lot of talk amongst the younger siblings.
While we got to see more of Plath family members, Lydia, Isaac, and Mercy Plath, the episode focused primarily on Olivia and Ethan's relationship, and the current struggles the two are enduring. It's been made clear that Olivia wants to keep herself and Ethan distanced from Kim and Barry, however, fans are beginning to wonder what her relationship with her family is like, and whether she speaks to them or not.
Does Olivia Plath Speak To Her Family?
'Welcome To Plathville' is only getting better and better! Viewers are now getting a closer look into the Plath family dynamics, particularly that of Olivia and Ethan. The two are currently looking for a home that is a little bit farther from Kim and Barry. While Ethan is still slightly reluctant to move away from his family for good, Olivia is adamant about wanting to escape, Cairo, Georgia and move to the next city over, Thomasville. Although they managed to find a home they both loved, their offer was denied after it being outbid by another buyer.
This was one of many issues Ethan and Olivia are facing, leaving fans sad to see their relationship take a hit like this. It is no secret that Olivia does not get along with her in-laws, Kim and Barry, particularly after the way they treated her once she began seriously dating Ethan. The couple has not spoken to Ethan's parents in quite some time, creating even more distance between them all.
It seems as if things are beyond repair with Olivia and her in-laws, however, fans have begun to wonder whether Olivia is close to her own family. Well, it seems as if Olivia also broke away from her conservative ways, however, she is in a good place with all of her family, but one!
While she has not cut off all contact with her family back home, Olivia is estranged from her younger sister, Lydia Grace. She and Lydia were the only two of a dozen to break free from their family's strict ways, similarly to that of the Plath family, however, things have not been great between the two sisters. After Lydia prepared for an interview detailing her unconventional upbringing, Olivia intervened, requesting the interview be shut down.
Olivia reportedly did so to protect her family, considering they are "very private people". When a family photo of Olivia's family came up, and one sibling's face was blurred, fans immediately wondered if things weren't so great on her end, too. Well, no need to worry, cause Olivia is good with her folks! In fact, the TLC star shared a touching photo of her mother on Instagram for Mother's Day, thanking her for all she's done. While she may not have a close connection with Kim and Barry, Olivia finds solace in knowing she's got her own family to lean on.
