We all know that Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise's marriage was marred in controversy, surrounded by questionable acts that the Church of Scientology allegedly did to break them up. But what people tend to forget about the ex-couple, is that they adopted two children while married.

Fans get updates on Kidman's amazing parting skills and the kids she has with husband Keith Urban, and tabloids write their articles about how Cruise hasn't spoken to his daughter Suri, whom he had with ex-wife Katie Holmes, in six years. But you hardly ever hear about Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise's children, or what they are doing as adults today. That's because they live very private lives.

After Kidman split from Cruise, she was reportedly labeled a "suppressive person" in Scientology, so her kids were virtually taken away from her and raised by Cruise. But that doesn't mean Kidman doesn't have a relationship with them. In fact, they are still very much in both their parent's lives.

But after all the drama, how have Connor and Isabella Cruise grown up, and what are they up to today?

While the media likes to make accusations that Kidman does not have a relationship with Isabella and Connor, it appears that she is very much involved in their lives, or as involved as she is allowed to be not being a part of the Church of Scientology.

However, given the fact that as of late, Isabella has been liking Kidman's posts on social media and has made comments in the past that she talks to both of her parents, it could just be that the relationship is kept private. And if this is the case, there is not much that is going to be learned about the dynamics of what happens between Kidman or even Cruise for that matter, and their kids if they do not want the public to be privy to what is going on.

Connor And Isabella Cruise's Adoption And Their Complicated Relationship With Their Parents

Kidman and Cruise got married in 1990, and according to some sources, Kidman tried her hardest to integrate herself into Cruise's belief system, the Church of Scientology. The pair decided to adopt Isabella, born in 1992, and Connor, born in 1995, after failed attempts at getting pregnant.

Kidman reportedly spent two years studying Scientology with Cruise, but ultimately she left and sources say that she was deemed a dangerous person to the Church. The Church denies the claims that they bugged their house and secretly tried to split them up through the children, but Cruise and Kidman eventually did split in 2001.

Their children, who were already being raised as Scientologists, decided to stay with Cruise instead of Kidman. But apparently, there's no ill will on either side, and Kidman's relationship with her kids over the years has been very private.

When Kidman does talk about her kids, she says she respects their choices.

"They are able to make their own decisions," Kidman explained. "They have made choices to be Scientologists and as a mother, it’s my job to love them."

Kidman went on to say, "I think that’s so important because if that is taken away from a child, to sever that in any child, in any relationship, in any family – I believe it’s wrong. So that’s our job as a parent, to always offer unconditional love."

Connor, specifically, has also denied any drama between him and his adoptive mother.

"I love my mum. I don’t care what people say, I know that me and mum are solid. I love her a lot."

Despite the fact that Kidman and her adoptive children seem to deny the fact that there's drama, there have been times when Kidman and her kids have equally not been there for one another.

After Kidman’s father died, Isabella wasn’t there for her for support. Kidman was also not present at Isabella’s wedding in 2015, or Connor's in 2019. Kidman and her oldest children have not been photographed together since 2006 either.

"We all need to do this. It’s hard work. It’s a lot of effort. It’s a few meltdowns and running to the bathroom to have a mini-episode, but it is worth everything because you will get through."

Cruise, on the other hand, has a stronger relationship with his kids and is often seen with him at events. They were also at his wedding to Holmes in 2006.

Isabella Cruise's Challenging Life

Now 30, Isabella is still an essential part of Scientology, whose job is to recruit new members. She recently penned a letter explaining her often difficult journey becoming an "auditor", someone who "provides a precise path by which any individual may walk an exact route to higher states of spiritual awareness," for the belief system.

"This IS what I had been searching for," Isabella explained. "The missing piece. Suddenly everything began to make sense."

Isabella studied at West London's Delmar Academy of Make-up and Hair, and reportedly lives in Croydon, outside London, with her husband, Max Parker, where they live a relatively quiet life.

Besides loving Scientology, she also loves art. On her Instagram, she showcases a lot of her artwork and T-shirt designs, which are all for sale through her clothing line, BKC (Bella Kidman Cruise), which she launched in 2018.

In the past few years, Isabella has reemerged on her Instagram. She even shared a rare new photo of herself in 2022. And falling in line with her desire to not post selfies of herself often, it was not until September 2023 that Isabella posted a picture of herself with long brunette tresses, a significant difference from the short hair that has become her trademark.

Connor Cruise Has Also Gone Into Something Creative

Cruise is probably closest to Connor out of all his kids. They are often seen at Los Angeles Dodgers games and taking helicopter rides together. They are also extremely close because Connor, like his sister, is also a prominent member of Scientology.

In 2018, Connor moved to Clearwater, Florida, and was allowed to live in an "elite Scientology compound," called The Sandcastle, just a stone's throw away from one of his father's properties. Clearwater is of course where Scientology's main hub, The Flag Building, is located.

Connor briefly had an acting career as a kid, appearing in Seven Pounds, in 2008, and Red Dawn in 2012. But living in Florida he has taken up deep-sea fishing, and enjoys living life under the radar, unlike his famous father.

He married fellow Scientologist, Silvia Zanchi, in 2019, and it was reported that Cruise told him not to invite Kidman to the wedding.

Most recently, Connor has opened his own barbequing business, called Connor's Meat Shack. He has also tried his hand at learning to live more off of the earth than with consumer goods.

While there are tons of rumors about the once Kidman-Cruise family, and a lot of conflicting statements from everyone, including Connor and Isabella, the family do have contact with one another, save for Cruise and Kidman.

One thing's for sure, each of their kids has become successful in their own right and will continue on whatever path they choose. Even if they didn't talk to Cruise of Kidman, they still have great role models.
