Though Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar have made a healthy net worth for themselves, it's well-known that the wives in the family are not supposed to work. Whether it's by necessity, given how many children most of the Duggar family has, or due to family or religious tradition, none of the Duggar girls have a job outside the home.
Since Anna Duggar's husband Josh is serving a decade-plus prison sentence, fans often worry about how she and her seven kids are faring without an income source. What does Anna Duggar do for a living, if anything, and how is she raising her kids alone?
How Is Anna Duggar Making Money?
As far as a job, it does not seem that Anna Duggar has ever worked one. Anna Keller met Josh when she was about 18 years old, and the two got engaged on her 20th birthday.
Though Anna is said to have graduated from homeschool at age 16 and even earned a degree in early childhood education, it doesn't appear as if she ever got a job. In addition, the degree she is said to have earned has not been confirmed; many suspect that she did not earn a degree from an accredited college program.
Either way, given that she had seven children in 12 years, most assumed that Anna did not have any time to build a career.
That doesn't mean she has no money coming in, however. It is possible that the Duggars are receiving royalties from TLC, especially as some of the older episodes of their reality series (19 Kids and Counting and Counting On) are available on streaming platforms.
Given Anna and Josh's limited screentime after his scandal broke, however, it's unclear whether they would receive any payments if such a residual arrangement exists.
Anna Duggar Has A Net Worth Of $60,000
It might not be public knowledge whether Anna is working or receiving money from anyone while raising her seven kids, but what is public knowledge is her net worth. Unfortunately for Anna and her kids, the family's net worth plummeted after Counting On was canceled and Josh Duggar was arrested.
Anna Duggar is said to be worth about $60,000 as of 2023. This is a drop from 2020 when the couple was reported to be worth closer to $100K, but it's also not nearly as much as some other family members are worth.
It could be assumed that Josh and Anna had to pay legal bills during his trial, in addition to dealing with transportation and taking care of their kids while Josh wasn't able to work. It's been rumored that Jim Bob Duggar contributed financially as well, losing money over Josh's bad behavior and his part in keeping things quiet for years.
Not only did Josh's misdeeds (and the fact that his family covered them up) cause him and Anna to lose out on potential opportunities, but the scandal also caused the rest of the family to lose multiple sources of income.
From the canceled TLC show to paid partnerships that fell apart because of Josh, the whole family's finances suffered. Thankfully for Anna, however, her in-laws are still quite well-off.
Anna Duggar Is Likely Getting Help From Her In-Laws
It's already been theorized that Anna Duggar is getting help from her in-laws to support her many kids while Josh is in prison. Fans and other interested parties have sussed out that Anna is likely living on the Duggar family's massive compound, which features not only their massive house but additional properties on the same acreage.
It might not be smooth sailing for Anna even with some financial help, though; an "unknown incident" led to law enforcement showing up at the family's property for a yet-to-be-revealed reason.
Many speculate that the "raid" was somehow related to Josh's crimes, but few details are known to date.
Since multiple Duggar kids still live both at home and on the property in various homes and even a tree house, it could be any one of them involved in whatever issue took place. It's possible the issue is completely unrelated to Anna's husband's legal problems, too.
Hopefully, for the sake of the couple's kids, it wasn't anything involving the family. Either way, at least Anna has somewhere to live with her children, even if she's dependent upon her in-laws for what amounts to handouts while Josh is in prison.
With more than ten years to go before his planned release, it seems that for now, Anna Duggar has no intention of giving up on her husband. As his team filed legal appeals, Anna even posted on Instagram that the truth would eventually come out.
Even after he admitted to cheating on her, Anna continued to publicly support Josh, suggesting that there was no way she will divorce him or leave the Duggar family.
