As speculation continued to swirl on the internet about what might have happened to Zac Efron’s jaw, many people immediately jumped to a familiar conclusion: that the actor had decided to undergo plastic surgery in order to change his face and enhance his looks.
For a showbiz superstar, it might have not been the most far-fetched supposition coming from fans. After all, many celebrities have been known over the years for going under the knife in order to alter certain elements of their appearance.
Ambulance star Eiza González is one example. The rumored on-and-off girlfriend of Jason Momoa has completely transformed her looks since the days when she was starring in telenovelas in her native Mexico.
The actress has been open in the past about how a tragic past plunged her into a cycle of various mental health challenges, some of which drove her to feel discontent about her countenance.
Bella Hadid, Kim Kardashian and Jamie Lee Curtis are other stars who have sought plastic surgery alterations for their bodies. The latter once spoke about the apparent futility of it all, saying: “None of it works!”
But Zac Efron And His Friends Confronted The Rumors That He Had Had Plastic Surgery
The first person to respond to all the speculation about his purported plastic surgery procedure was Zac Efron’s close friend Kyle Sandilands. The Australian radio host attempted to set the record straight while speaking on his Kyle and Jackie O show barely a week after Efron had appeared on Earth Day! The Musical.
“I would know if he'd had any plastic surgery,” Sandilands said, in conversation with his co-host Jackie ‘O’ Henderson. He assured their listeners that Efron had not taken that drastic step, while also questioning why such a good looking star would even think about such a procedure in the first place.
“[Zac getting plastic surgery would be] like getting a Picasso and having a kid finger paint all over it. Why bother?” Sandilands added. Efron himself took some time to respond, but he did eventually also take that particular bull by the horns.
The 34-year-old had an extended, exclusive interview with Men’s Health Magazine recently, where he finally revealed what really happened to his jaw.
Zac Efron Had His Jaw Repaired After A Bizarre Home Accident
Zac Efron went into deep details with Men’s Health about the accident that ‘shattered’ his jaw, leaving him in need of a procedure that would significantly impact his looks and make him the subject of intense social media scrutiny.
The Baywatch star explained how he slipped at home while running around in socks, causing his chin to crash into a granite corner of a fountain in his home.
The severity of the ensuing injury was such that his chin bone ended up dislocating to hang off of his face. But even this, he only discovered after finally waking up, having initially lost consciousness from the impact of the fall.
After he started seeing a specialist to help treat the injuries, fans then started to speak about his changing visage. In a separate interview with Entertainment Tonight, the actor revealed that it was his mother who brought all the speculation to his attention. “My mom told me,” said Efron. “I don't really read the internet, so, I don’t really give a ****.”
