Harry Styles and Taylor Swift nearly broke the internet when the two were rumored to be dating back in 2012. Back then their relationship wasn't very public on social media, but the paparazzi were constantly snapping pictures of the two, and it was confirmed they were most definitely in a relationship.
As time went on and their relationship ended fans were still caught up in the two dating and dissected Swift's 2014 album, 1989, assuming most of the songs were about him. But years later, fans still are doing the same with their music, and Styles finally made a comment about it.
Harry Styles And Taylor Swift's Relationship Was Brief
The pair started dating in 2012 and broke up in 2013. Although it was a short romance, it is still the topic of many conversations amongst fans. Both Styles and swift have commented about their time together. Swift even stated that "the number one feeling I felt in the whole relationship was anxiety. Because it felt very fragile, it felt very tentative."
Styles had commented as well about how dating Swift was. He opened up about it by saying, "You're on a date with someone you really like. It should be that simple, right? It was a learning experience for sure. But at the heart of it – I just wanted it to be a normal date." It seems they both felt the pressure of being in the public eye while they dated.
The two split after going on a vacation together in 2013. It was reported that the two had an argument and that it was when they officially ended things. Swift apparently left the vacation early, while Styles stayed and enjoyed his time there. Just because their relationship ended between them, it was still being brought up constantly.
Harry Styles Has A New Song That Has The Same Title As A Taylor Swift Song
Lots of fans listened to Swift's album, 1989, and were able to tell she wrote most of the songs about her relationship with Styles. She even had a song practically named after him. The song was titled Style. Fans also assumed that Swift's track, Out of the Woods, was about Styles.
Fast-forward to when Styles released his first debut solo album, Harry Styles. The track, Two Ghosts, was rumored to be about Swift. This was never confirmed. It also wasn't clear whether the two had "bad blood" or not. The only way for fans to really guess anything about the two was by diving into their music and dissecting the lyrics.
It wasn't until the 2021 Grammys that Swift and Styles were actually seen together and interacting with each other. They were seen laughing and smiling together and acting friendly. When Styles won the award for Best Pop Solo Performance for his song, Watermelon Sugar, Swift was seen supporting Styles by standing up and clapping along with the crowd.
This interaction or reunion of some sort made it clear to fans that the two have gotten over anything that happened in their past relationship with the other. Styles recently came out with his third studio album titled, Harry's House. He has a track on this album titled, Daylight. Swift also has a song titled Daylight on her 2019 album, Lover.
This of course sent fans into their theories that Styles song was about Swift. His comment to that was, "You're reading too much into it, you know I'd love to tell you that you're spot on, but I can't. No, sorry." It's also important to note that he immediately shut down the rumor that this song was in any way related to Swift.
Why Are Fans Still So Hooked On Harry Styles And Taylor Swift Drama?
So even as many years have passed since the two had their love connection, fans are still always talking about it. But why? There really is no clear-cut answer besides that the two were such major pop stars when they first dated and shared some of the same fan base. For fans seeing their two favorite artists together was major.
There were even some theories about Swift's new music as well. Swift has a new song being released in the summer for an upcoming film, Where The Crawdads Sing. The song title is Carolina. Fans immediately connected the song to Styles because he also has a song titled, Carolina, from his first album. Neither Styles nor Swift commented on this.
It is pretty safe to assume that no matter how much time passes since the two dated, fans will never stop talking about it. Fans even hope the two will collaborate together in the future. They'll just have to wait and see.
