What Has Bradley Cooper Been Up To Since 'A Star Is Born'?

Bradley Cooper has been on a roll since the success of his 2018 picture A Star is Born. He directed and starred in the film, alongside Lady Gaga. Rumors that the two were really romantically involved made the rounds. But, alas, nothing seems to have come of it.

No, the love of Bradley's life seemed to be his baby mama, supermodel Irina Shayk. The couple had been together since 2015 and had welcomed daughter Lea de Seine in 2017. Sad to say, they split up in 2019, but they still see a lot of one another doing the co-parenting thing.

Since making A Star is Born, Cooper has kept busy acting and producing films. And of course, he's taken time to voice the character of Rocket in 2019's Avengers: Endgame.

The guy has come a long way from his Hangover film franchise days.

Let's take a look at what Bradley Cooper has been up to since his phenomenal success with A Star is Born.

Family Stuff

Well, Bradley has what some consider to be an unusually close relationship with his 80-year-old mom Gloria Compano. When his dad died about ten years ago, Gloria came to live with Bradley. And, for at least part of lockdown, they hunkered down together. There was a point back in September of 2020 when they didn't even dare go out of the house. He has said that was fine because she was a "cool chick".

But it must be said that Gloria is a bit of a handful, regularly trying to upstage Bradley on the red carpet.

In fact, according to the Daily Mail, she pretty much stole the show at the 2019 Oscars, sitting on the front row all glitz and glamour. She even got a shout-out from Julia Roberts up on the stage. We wonder if Irina Shayk was amused or not. Like Matthew McConaughey's mom Kay, Gloria so totally enjoys Bradley fame (and fortune, probably).

On a more serious note, Bradley has been praised by his ex Irina Shayk because he is such a hands-on dad. He spends lots of time with 3-year-old Lea de Seine, sometimes on their own, sometimes with mom Irina in tow.

Shayk told Elle that he was "the most amazing dad". She also put in that he is 100 percent a hands-on dad, meaning that the three of them spend quite of bit of family time together.

Bradley can be seen walking the streets of New York hand in hand with his little princess. The two obviously adore one another.

Movies, Movies, And More Movies

Cooper has moved into directing and producing in a big way. He directed and produced A Star is Born and was also a producer of Joaquin Phoenix's 2019 film Joker. And he'll produce a yet-untitled Hulk Hogan biopic. We wonder who will play Hulk? He's kept busy on the acting front, too. He stars in 2021's Nightmare Alley, a dark mystery thriller. And he will produce and star in Atlantic Wall, a tense tale of a soldier caught behind enemy lines on D-Day. And at some point in the next year or so, he will roll up to voice Rocket in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3.

'Maestro'

Bradley Cooper is set to direct his first Netflix Original film. It's a lavish biopic of the life of legendary composer Leonard Bernstein. Bernstein's 1990 obituary in The New York Times called him "one of the most prodigiously talented and successful musicians in American history". Bernstein loomed very large in the 1950s and 1960s, with a string of Broadway musicals and film adaptations. As far as Maestro is concerned, Cooper's got it covered. He is directing it, taking the title role, and has even had a hand in writing the screenplay. The film, still in pre-production, is set to start filming in April 2021. Oh yeah, Cooper is also producing the film, alongside the likes of directors Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg. The film covers 30 years of Bernstein's life, including the time he wrote the music for West Side Story and On the Waterfront. Both went from Broadway to film. And the movie also focuses on Bernstein's marriage to the Chilean actress Felecia Montealegre. Many believe Bernstein only married to try and hide the fact that he was gay. Bernstein did eventually come out of the closet, living with a male musical director in California. It will be more than a little interesting to see what the film makes of all of the "real" Bernstein! So, that catches you up with Bradley Cooper and what he has been up to since A Star is Born.
