Many celebrities, like Rihanna, have intense workout routines to keep them healthy and in shape. Some stars don't want certain things brought up, like their age, when someone mentions their appearance. However, many celebs are happy to share some of their work-out routines and skincare secrets with their fans.
Rihanna launched her career in music, and has successfully grown her own empire, expanding into business. But no matter how successful and busy the star is, she still makes time to go to the gym. Eating healthy food is also important to the singer. Rihanna enjoys changing things up while staying in shape, and likes using different types of workouts. Rihanna's trainer revealed what it's really like working out with the singer.
Rihanna Has Worked With Multiple Trainers Before
Robyn Rihanna Fenty, who everyone knows as Rihanna, has successfully built her own empire, and is currently the wealthiest musician in the world, worth $1.4 billion. Although the multitalented star is known mostly for her music and acting, some of the singer's fortune comes from Fenty Beauty, her makeup company.
Because Rihanna is an in-demand, A-list star, with multiple careers and a family, it might be hard for her to find time for working out. However, she puts in the effort to make time, as staying in shape is important to her.
Many performers, including Riri, sing and dance during their concerts. Rihanna has always looked amazing, and the Ocean's 8 actress uses a variety of workouts in order to bring her best to the audiences whenever she's on-stage.
Rihanna has even worked with two trainers at the same time before, Ary Nunez and Haley Pasternack. Nunez and Pasternack worked with the star on different days.
Nunez commented they wanted to make sure things didn't get boring for the singer. "Whether we're on the road or in NY, my main concern is to keep workouts interesting. I use a mixture of dance, martial arts, Pilates/calisthenics, and core."
About Rihanna's intense workout routine, Nunez said, "We focus on the core muscles, and we do a ton of repetitions. I want clients to be able to lift their own body weight. That takes discipline."
While preparing for the movie Battleship, Rihanna worked with a trainer to do "military style exercises." About the workouts, she said, "I trained with a soldier. He really broke me down and had no remorse."
She continued, "I had to do a lot of physical training with a personal trainer as well as the soldier, and it was gruesome, but fun. One man drilled me, yelled at me, made me do push-ups. It really got you in the mentality."
The Mayo Clinic has said good a workout might also help you feel better, both physically and mentally. "There's a reason why you feel amazing after a workout. Cardio exercise helps your energy by releasing endorphins, giving you more, lasting energy throughout your day."
What It Is Really Like Working Out With Rihanna, According To Her Trainer
During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Rihanna's trainer Jamie Granger spoke about how she kept the star in such killer shape. She said, "Rihanna does 'everything from power lifting to plyometrics.'"
She added that she uses a variety of exercises to keep things fun for the star. "We do cycling, hiking, paddling - we try to mix it up. Someone like that who's working out almost everyday, we need to keep it fresh and exciting."
Granger also said that "big compound movements are the best for anybody and [for] burning the most calories."
Granger also mentioned that sometimes the Umbrella singer needed to do shorter workouts. These might include exercises such as, "squats, lunges, and a lot of the plyometric moves to keep your heart rate up because sometimes we only have 20-25 minutes so it's about constant big movements."
Along with going to the gym, Rihanna also eats a healthy diet, but doesn't avoid food.
Rihanna Sticks To A Healthy Diet
Many celebrities have their own secrets for looking fantastic. Some enjoy eating healthier food, and are even able to afford a personal chef to make their favorite meals. Some celebs have even put out their own cookbooks in order to share some of their recipes and certain stories for their fans.
Rihanna also likes to stick to healthier foods, and some of her meal plans have been shared by her chef for anyone looking for a new healthy recipe. The singer also loves to eat, and will spend extra time in the gym instead of forfeiting a meal.
During an interview with Vanity Fair, the Diamonds singer spoke about how she refused to remove anything from her diet for the sake of losing weight. "Legit, I have been in the gym every day this week because I am not willing to give up my food. But I will sacrifice an hour for the gym."
Her trainer, Jamie Granger commented that eating healthier food when possible and drinking plenty of water were important for a person's overall health. "It helps balance your hormones, it helps give you energy and control your mood."
She added, "And staying hydrated. Those are the two top things that you should always do. It's balance. If you want to eat a little more, you've just got to work out a little harder."
