Hannah Montana was undoubtedly one of the most popular shows on The Disney Channel. Airing from 2006-2011, the show is still streamed by many on Disney+ to this day. Following Miley Stewart and her alter ego Hannah’s journey as they navigate the double life of highschooler and pop star, the show was the big break for mega star Miley Cyrus. The show focuses on the relationships Miley has with her father Robbie Ray (Billy Ray Cyrus), brother Jackson (Jason Earles) and best friends Lilly Truscott (Emily Osment) and Oliver Oken (Mitchell Musso).
While Miley Cyrus’ success goes without saying, the other cast members have also been quite busy since the show wrapped. Most of the cast are very grateful for their experience on the show, and are even open to the possibility of a reboot. Until then, here's what the men from the Hannah Montana series have been up to recently.
6 Billy Ray Cyrus
While Billy Ray’s feelings about the show have changed over the years, he also believes everything happens for a reason. In an interview with Insider in early 2020, Cyrus said “At a certain point I said, 'Man, did I trade in my best years of music to become an actor?' And then along comes Lil Nas X, and he told me the reason he reached out to me was because he said I was the only country dude that he knew because of Hannah Montana." The unlikely duo took home 2 Grammy’s for the "Old Town Road" remix and the song stayed on top of the Billboard Top 100 for 19 straight weeks. Before the collaboration, however, Cyrus has gone as far to say that the show destroyed his family and that he regretted it. Nevertheless, Billy Ray is currently enjoying his music and enjoying being a grandfather to new baby Bear Chance Cyrus.
5 Jason Earle
Since playing Miley’s 16-year-old brother, Jason Earles has come a long way. The now 44-year-old is married to his longtime partner Katie Drysen, and he regularly posts about his relationship and adventures on Instagram. According to Teen Vogue, Earles is very fond of his Disney Channel days and would definitely be willing to go back. “If Disney was like, 'Hey, let's do a brand new show, let's do four more years of this' or 'Hey, we're going to do a special six-episode Hannah Montana reunion,' I would do any of that stuff because that place is like family to me," he said. As of now, Jason has guest starred on the Disney Channel show Just Roll With It that references Hannah Montana in unscripted comedic style.
4 Mitchell Musso
One of the most beloved friendships on the show was that between Oliver and Jackson. Whether they were hitting the beach to sell “cheese jerky” or dealing with Rico’s mischief, they were always up to something. After the show, Mitchell stuck with Disney starring in both Pair of Kings and Phineas and Ferb. Mitchell Musso is a bit unrecognizable now, as he’s ditched the long hair and baggy shorts, but is continuing to work in the TV industry. Most recently he has acted alongside Wizards of Waverly Place actor Jake T. Austin in The Rise and is also set to do voice work for the Cars franchise in 2022.
3 Moises Arias
According to his Instagram, Moises Arias is currently an actor, photographer, and creative director. Since playing Rico on Hannah Montana, he has continued to act in movies such as Pitch Perfect 3 and Pete Davidson’s King of Staten Island. He also played Poe alongside fellow Disney star Cole Sprouse in the heart wrenching film Five Feet Apart. Moises also works with Jaden Smith to promote his clothing line MSFTS.
2 Cody Linely
Jake Ryan was probably Miley’s biggest love interest throughout the show. Played by Cody Linely, Jake was a cocky yet charming famous actor. Since the show, Cody has been a contestant on Dancing With the Stars paired with Julianne Hough where they placed fourth. He also works with aspiring actors teaching classes both online and at the Texas-based Cathryn Sullivan's Acting Studio. Linley has also continued to make appearances in television and film in Melissa and Joey and Sharknado.
1 Drew Roy
Although Jesse only starred in a few episodes of the show as Jake’s nemesis pining for Miley’s heart, he’s still an important part of the Hannah Montana legacy. He inspired the hit song 'He Could Be The One', with his bad boy looks and guitar skills. Since the show, Drew Roy has been in some movies such as Secretariat, and has also gotten married to Renee Gardner with whom he has now has a child. He now works as a pilot and will also appear on an episode of the iCarly reboot.
